So... What the hell do I mean by 'Hardcore movies' ?!?!
I mean movies which so deeply schocked me (most of the time by their stories but sometimes by their visuals) that I still thought about them days afterward. For some of them, I'm still shaken up years later....
I don't provide any notes explaining why they were shocking to me. I don't want to spoil it. If you have seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't seen it, you have never heard about it and you still wonder what is so 'hardcore' about it, I guess you'll have to wacht it then...
Requiem for a Dream always gets to me...it's an emotional bomb. Audition did not affect me personally that much but it is a disturbing movie. Mysterious skin is definitely something to shake you up a bit I agree...and the most recent movie I've watched from these is In The Realm of Senses...It will definitely stay in my mind for a few days but it was not as shocking as I thought it would be.
Great list, but instead of the movie christiane f. i recommend the book, way better ! // I definately have to see tarnation, funny games and some others... if it goes on like that ill never finish my want to watch list :D
@AdamLundy, no, even though the story is really far-fetched, I thought it was visually really impressive. I put it in this list because I thought it was one of the most nightmarish movies I have ever seen. If you think it is terrible, well, that's your opinion..
@m08222196, good for you that you watched 'Johnny got his gun', I woud love to re-watch it. Concerning 'The Seventh Seal', I don't think it fits this list. I mean, it is a great masterpiece, one of the awesome milestones in motion picture history, it is really deep but not really hardcore.
@m08222196, indeed, my bad... I saw 'The seventh continent' not so long ago and it is indeed pretty messed up. It is not as strong as 'Funny Games' though, in my opinion. Maybe I will add it.
Interesting list. I haven't watched quite a few of these but now I am interested!
Also, "The Seventh Continent"
