Halloweenish Sounds
White Zombie is always perfect for Halloween.
the giraffe's rating:
A solid mix of goth-ish bands to put you in a dark mood. Also good to dance to, if you're into that.
the giraffe's rating:
This would be the special edition, which is the more "serious" version...it lacks the filler tracks and the hilarious songs "we hate everyone" and "kill all the white people". Thus it's darker. The regular version works as well, but I prefer this one for Halloween.
See also October Rust. the giraffe's rating:
They didn't call themselves spookycore for nothing. 14 dark, creepy songs...see also Chamber Music.
the giraffe's rating:
The movie takes place near Halloween, so it'd be disappointing if the album wasn't similarly themed. Some of the best 80s/90s bands are on here, and it has my favorite Cure song ever to kick it off.
See also its companion soundtrack of Graeme Revell's score. the giraffe's rating:
See also most of Danny Elfman's soundtracks.
the giraffe's rating:
The best live recording of Bauhaus & a good collection of their best songs.
the giraffe's rating:
The title says it all...a concept album dealing mostly with ghosts and strange goings-on. Sadly overlooked by many.
the giraffe's rating:
The best thing Rob Zombie has done musically post-White Zombie, and the other bands' songs are excellent as well.
the giraffe's rating:
See Astro-Creep above. I prefer this one though, as it's darker.
the giraffe's rating:
Dark, weird, amazing.
the giraffe's rating:
Still the best Manson album ever recorded. See also Smells Like Children, which took these songs and remixed them into often creepier, weirder versions plus has a trio of great dark covers ("I Put a Spell on You", "Sweet Dreams", and "Rock n Roll...").
the giraffe's rating:
The whole thing sounds like a horror film...probably the slasher variety.
the giraffe's rating:
Blues and punk mixed with an organ from hell.
the giraffe's rating:
No Halloween is complete without Ian Curtis's haunting vocals.
the giraffe's rating:
An entire album about witches!
the giraffe's rating:
Lots of vampire songs mixed with plenty of other dark material.
the giraffe's rating:
Tells the tale of the Devil waging war against a small town on the Mexican border.

looking at it now on youtube, a lot of it seems a bit silly... Vinyl: 1 Internet: Zero
If you do look it up the songs "Through the Darkness" "Wander Alone" and "When Night Comes Down" are a few of the best places to start.
A few more possibilities:

And I could probably put all of Diamanda Galas's albums to this list for her voice alone.
