Creepy drama about a Schizophrenic with a major Oedipal Complex evaluating his childhood. Gothic atmosphere, great subtle performance from Raplh Fiennes. Recalls films such as "The Living and the Dead" and "The Butcher Boy." Sports a twist that seems easy in retrospect but you don't see coming.
Although many viewers probably won't like the dramatic, symbolism-laden ending, I thought "Antibodies" was an excellent serial killer thriller, more complex in some ways than "The Silence of the Lambs." A perverted child killer forces a Christian cop to get in touch with is 'dark side,' with unpleasant results- meanwhile the cop's son is doing a little getting in touch of his own. Prepare for multiple disturbing scenes involving animals.
Aidan Gillen plays a stuttering, religious voyeur in this very 'indie' indie where nothing is what it seems. Littered with sad, campy, and funny moments, "Buddy Boy" is a true original with underrated substance.
The anti-Hollywood film about a slow-witted man looking for his family, this dark, dark comedy takes the premise to sadistic extremes, adding up to a film that would never be made in America. Sometimes in poor taste, but often funny and littered with good shots.
Conjoined twins and a hooker. That's pretty much all you need to know about this strange, sad film, given top marks by Ebert upon it's release. Haunting in a way you can't quite explain.
One of those rare movies that's both tragic and funny, "The Butcher Boy" seemed unadaptable from the stream-of-conciousness Irish novel by Patrick McCabe. Young Eamonn Owens does a great job as the aggressively outgoing and eventually violently schizophrenic Francie Brady, and the film has a strong sense of time and place. Read the book.

Emotionally draining, surreal nightmare about madness amongst the aristocrisy. It startles and provokes, with a childlike man who starts bonkers and goes downhill. A must-see for anyone who wants to see Hamish (Alice in Wonderland) flip out.
Disturbing and ambiguous picture, with creepy Noah Taylor playing a sociopath discharged Iraq interrogator and a extremely violent outcome. Great acting from Taylor, and the cast.
Segment- Bitch
The other short films in this collection are not really worth watching ("Mutant Tool" being at a particular low) but Simon Rumley's BDSM-centered short "Bitch" draws strong performances from both of it's leads while bringing forward a story that is both perverse and fascinating. Prepare for a shocker of an ending!
A deeply religious, disturbed girl questioning her faith undergoes a fateful exorcism. Horrific story, riveting documentery style, and incredible acting from Sandra Huller.
Sweet drama about a precocious schoolgirl (Evan Rachel Wood, before she dated Marilyn Manson) and her friendship with a retarded man, of who everyone expects the worst. She is forced to live in her own head, as her mother is an alcoholic and her sister is a skank.
my co-worker's mom makes $75/hr on the laptop. She has been fired for 9 months but last month her income was $7774 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read about it on this web site [Link removed - login to see]
Well I've seen 12 of them. And enjoyed all twelve to one degree or another, a few of which are favorites. This tells me I must delve deeper into these titles. Great list!
I heartily agree with: Defendor, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, Sling Blade, and Dead Alive.
I want to see: Thirst, God Bless America, and Let the Right One In.
I'd suggest most Werner Herzog movies (especially the gorgeous documentary - Encounters at the End of the World), as they are almost universally superb, and it seems like no one has seen them.
Great list! Seeing a few choices I would've loved to include in my own if I wasn't restricting to under a 100 ratings, such as May for example. One of my favourite horrors from the 00s! Seen 11 of these thus far, got a few good want to watches from it too :) And The Bleeding House is something I'm planning to check out ASAP over at Netflix.
