A list of films that should never be remade, even if a good modern cast and director were doing it. Some may have been remade in some form. Some may have been remade entirely that I don't know about. Either way, these are great films that should not be touched by the greedy hand of modern Hollywood. Alphabetical.

For Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings, I have used the first film in the trilogy to represent all of the films. Except the new Star Wars trilogy, which I have not seen nor particularly care to right now.

Agreed.

Usually I'm not against remakes, I always give "the benefit of the doubt" before starting screaming... But I agree with these titles. Great classics.

Films should not be remade - at all. I can't think of a single re-make that improved on the originals in any way. What happened to original ideas?

You are absolutely right!

I don't think anything should be remade, but once they are, I give them a chance.

Oh, can't even think in a Pulp Fiction remake D:

The Departed was decent, no doubt, but it didn't improve on the original in any way. Reservoir Dogs was a remake?

so true, but really no movie should be remade, it always ends up shit!

I am not against remakes but I do agree that some titles should not be remade. Specifically from your list the only title that I would NOT appreciate a remake of is Pulp Fiction.
Other than that there are elements from most of those films that I would enjoy seeing portrayed by different actors or film makers.

Wow, I can't even imagine how different Bringing Up Baby would be now! Actually, I don't think I'd mind a remake. It's such a cute idea to begin with, and it's one of those that there's been so much time between, it would be a cool look at how things have changed. 70 years would make a very different movie.

Good point with Bringing Up Baby, although I think it is so perfect and funny as it is, a remake isn't necessary. I'd happily see a new version if they made one but personally, I think screwball comedy's fast-paced style was better achieved in the 30s and 40s. I think if they remade it now, it would get too bogged down on pointless exposition.
