Marked (House of Night, Book 1) - P. C. Cast, Kristin Cast
An interesting take on the vampire myth where instead of being changed into a vampire you are marked by the goddess. Once marked, fledglings are taken to a special school where they learn about vampire life until they make the change. Of course there is love and drama, but also a quest to save the world.

The first of several in this series. More grown up than the other choices, and therefore I'm sure smuttier. I'm only on book 6 of the series. But so far so good.

Peeps - Scott Westerfeld
A strange but totally interesting story where vampirism is a disease.

Twilight - Stephenie Meyer
The beginning of the vampire sensation of this decade, but I've been reading vampire books my whole life. However, I thought the chemistry between the two main characters was amazing and that's what hooked me on these when the first one came out.

One of my first vampire books. I've been waiting for the last one in this series for over ten years now.

I recommend you actually read the original Dracula by Bram Stoker. I think that it is one of the best books I ever read. It's also the most legendary n' famous vampire book in the world history. Well, its very old but it presents an incredibly smooth and unhurried narration. And as we all know, Count Dracula is the most iconic vampire in the world.

I reccomend Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice and Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Both made into motion pictures (the original Swedish LTRON is better than the American one) and deserve a read.

Are you trying to say that because they are young adult books they aren't really about vampires? Vampires aren't real so they can be written lot's of ways. I like young adult books because they aren't pretentious. They entertain and that's it. After all, like so much else on listal it's my opinion. The title isn't All Time Best, it's My Favorite.

The Morganville, Vampire Academy and Anita Blake series' are among my favorites in vampire fiction - and I love vampires! While Anita Blake is definitely not young adult fiction, the other two are and I can attest to the fact that just because they are diminishes them in no way at all. They are incredible works of fiction and literature, incredibly addictive and enjoyable.

While Dracula and Rice's vampire books might be looked at, by some, as the apex of vampire fiction - I found these much more enjoyable. I must...I own every book, in each of the three series. (lol) I can't get enough!
