Whoopie Goldberg is as underrated as they come. She's incredibly brilliant. Especially in this movie, which was her first, and outside her usual pursuits at the time. Then again, I've always heard that if someone can do comedy, they can do anything.
Elfflame's rating:
Despite the "multiple endings" syndrome this movie suffers from, I think it's an excellent end to a series that I thought no one would ever be able to do well. And this is, ultimately, my favorite of the series, for so many reasons.
Elfflame's rating:
A movie that somehow manages to encapsulate the way I have always felt about the search for extraterrestrial life out there. It just has to be done, futile or not. An amazing story about belief.
Elfflame's rating:
I knew I was going to love this series when we got to the scene between Galadriel and Frodo, and she did the "Dark Queen" speech. It was perfect. Just how I'd always imagined it.
Elfflame's rating:
I can't even explain why this one movie stands out amid all the great Hitchcock films out there, but for me, this will always be the best. Jimmy Stewart is incredible in this, and the mystery that he's called upon to solve is so layered. No other movie has come close to the depth of this film.
Elfflame's rating:
Angels, demons and Scions, oh, my! I never thought I could possibly love a movie about Catholocism, but if anyone could do it, Kevin Smith could.
Elfflame's rating:
I didn't watch this one until I was in my leate teens or early twenties, which usually tends to mean I have trouble getting interested in a movie this old, but the power of this movie is such that it swept me right up. I know there a few people who might disagree, but it truly deserves its place at the top of so many movie lists. It will take quite a bit to knock it out, I think.
Elfflame's rating:
I know many people consider this the worst of the series, but for me, everything that happened in the first two movies is paid off in this final movie (oh, and please make it the final...) -- Will and Elizabeth's romance, Jack's obsession with his Pearl, the mentions of Will's destiny, the father-son relationship between Will and his father... And Will finally reclaims the story for himself. Yes, there's a lot there, but story-wise, it all makes sense.
Elfflame's rating:
Whatever the combination was that made this movie work, I have a feeling it won't ever happen again. Disney + ride-based film + sequels. And yet somehow, it worked. Might have had to do with the amazing cast, though.
