I didn't know poeple still play quake 2... that's awesome!

Yeah there is still a small group of diehards that still play ;) There is only 1 active deathmatch server in the UK but it's usually pretty busy. I've tried playing newer fps games (quake 3, unreal tournament) but they just don't have the same feel.
