Favorite Comic Books
Totally awesome, but I somehow haven't managed to finish all the volumes yet.

I find most shoujo (girl's) manga trite, so it's nice when I can find one that's, well, nice.

Miller's Batman is easily my favourite.

By no means my favourite Moore, but Bolland's artwork is so fucking gorgeous.
spiegel's rating:
Miller's Gordon is also easily my favourite.

Like looking in a mirror, particularly in the religious aspect.

Brian K. Vaughan is one of the best dialogue writers I've had the opportunity to read. And seriously, superheroes and political drama? Count me in!
(Also I may or may not have the hugest crush ever on Mitchell Hundred) spiegel's rating:
Hilarious and heartbreaking. My favourite comic memoir.
spiegel's rating:
The fact that it remains consistently suspenseful and well-written throughout its 18-volume span is amazing enough on its own, but what really makes it for me is Urasawa's unrelenting optimism in humanity. As lame as that sounds, there's this hopeful element present among all the bloodshed that warms my cynical heart.
spiegel's rating:
Yes, this is yaoi. But, thank god, it's actually well-written and realistic and all that super fun stuff.
spiegel's rating:
It's dark, it's absurd, and it's totally hilarious. Some knowledge of Japanese culture is recommended.
spiegel's rating:
So much better than the movie.
spiegel's rating:
My first foray into the world of non-manga comics (excluding the Archie comics I read when I was 10). Which was probably a bad idea in retrospect, since I read the best first :(
