I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you find 'The Last Temptation of Christ' in Romania? And if you did, where? I've been looking for it for ages.

Actually, I have to thank you for pointing this out because I've just realized that the book I read in Romanian under the name "Hristos rastignit a doua oara" is not "The Last Temptation of the Christ" but another Kazantzakis novel ("Christ Recrucified"). I feel so ignorant for not even questioning this before... I have an old BPT edition of "Hristos rastignit a doua oara", which I read sometime in high-school. I simply thought that the English translation just had a slightly different title.

i did the same thing. read "Hristos rastignit a doua oara" thinking it was "The Last Temptation of the Christ". then i saw the movie and well, had a very head-meet-desk moment
