Daniel Craig as James Bond in "Casino Royale"
Yes, someone actually turned down James Bond in Casino Royale and that someone was Wolverine himself, Mr. Hugh Jackman. He later said it was because he didn't want to get typecast in action film roles. In my opinion, playing James Bond is worth the typecast to me!
Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump in "Forrest Gump"
Tom Hanks played the iconic role of Forrest Gump but the role was originally offered to John Travolta.
Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling in "Silence of the Lambs"
Jodie Foster won an Oscar for her unforgettable performance as Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs but the role was first offered to Michelle Pfeiffer who turned it down. Michelle later stated that it was a tough decision but the disturbing subject matter of the film made her nervous.
Julia Roberts as Vivian in "Pretty Woman"
The film that launched Julia Roberts to stardom actually almost didn't. Brooke Shields and Molly Ringwald were both offered the lead role before Roberts was considered. Shields later said turning down the offer was the biggest career mistake she has ever made.
Iron Man 2 (2010)
Scarlett Johansson as The Black Widow in "Iron Man 2"
The Black Widow has been played by Scarlett Johansson for the last several years but the role was originally going to be played by Emily Blunt when the character first appeared on screen in Iron Man 2. She didn't exactly turn the role down though. She was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully in "The X-Files"
I don't think anyone could argue that Gillian Anderson was the perfect choice for Dana Scully but believe it or not, another Anderson was slated to play Scully before Gillan was. Pamela Anderson! Yes, you read that right. Pamela Anderson could've played Scully.
Kristen Stewart as Bella in "Twilight"
The role of Bella in the romantic film franchise was originally not offered to Kristen Stewart, it was offered to Emily Browning. She was even a favorite of Stephanie Meyer, the author of the Twilight books. Browning later admitted that she didn't regret turning down the role. I don't think I would regret that decision either, Emily. Those movies are just plain horrible.
Keanu Reeves as Neo in "The Matrix"
Believe it or not, Neo was not going to be played by Keanu Reeves originally. Will Smith was offered the role but turned it down because he didn't understand the movie! LOL!
Ben Stiller as Greg Focker in "Meet the Parents"
Jim Carrey was actually attached to playing Greg Focker in Meet the Parents before Ben Stiller. Carrey even contributed jokes to the screenplay, such as the main character being named 'Focker'.
Bryan Cranston as Walter White in "Breaking Bad"
It's hard to imagine anyone else playing Walter White on Breaking Bad but if Matthew Broderick hadn't turned the role down first, Bryan Cranston never would of given us the brilliant character we have all grown to love.
