They should have stopped at Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath, or maybe Sabotage. They went downhill from there. I think the first 4 albums were the best representation of what the band was about and what they could do.

I know Heaven and Hell has been critically acclaimed as a landmark metal album, but I am not really a big fan of the late Ronnie James Dio, although I do admit he was talented, I always preferred Ozzy and didn't really consider it Black Sabbath without him. He is the voice of Black Sabbath as far as I am concerned. If Ozzy is not involved, I'm not interested.

But, even with Ozzy, Technical Fantasy and Never Say Die both sucked. The band strayed too far from their strengths and tired unsuccessfully expand their sound to new influences with those 2 efforts.

Never seen this comment before, had been there for over 3 months. Ozzy truly is the right man for the stage with Tony and Geezer, but Ozzy have never been - and he will never be - ecen closely as good as a singer as R.J was. The voice and singing technic is far from R.J's.

I agree that RJD was a good singer, but he didn't fit in to my idea of Sabbath. He was a better fit with Rainbow and his own band, Dio.

Black Sabbath is good with and without Ozzy. Sabbath created metal. People have all different opinions on metal. The only one that matters is your own
