I am not sure why. I love Donnie Darko, and he doesn't have the hair in the eyes or the overly petulant attitude but he does strike me as a little emo. Especially for the 80s.
Michael seemed emo to me, not punk or preppy, just emo...
and Laddie (the little boy with the awesome Beatles-style jacket on the back of the motorcycle in this pic) seems like an emo-in-the-making to me.
Most of the other characters in this movie are obviously punks, Michael's younger brother seems to be a prep and the "Frog Brothers" are...comic book nerds...or somethin'.
The teenage poet Arthur Rimbaud (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) in Total Eclipse was pretty damn emo.
Lex's rating:
I admit, I am not an emo. My idea of an "emo" (I may be "dead" wrong) is someone that is prone to melancholy, someone sad and perhaps a little dramatic, pale with the hair in the eyes and the self-proclaimed sensitive, deep type. So here is my list, from a non-emo.
After working on this list a bit I realized that, while I am not emo, not all emo-characters are totally irritating. Some are kind of cool. To a degree. I still wouldn't want to be stuck in a house with any of them for any extended length of time though.
What shit? What is stupid? I am not an emo and not into emo culture if that is what you are trying to ask. This is just a random list of characters I found "emo" in movies I have seen.
