Director Ridley Scott says that he repeatedly showed his Blade Runner team a copy of Hopper's most famous painting during the making of the film, "to illustrate the look and mood I was after” (http://www.empireonline.com/features/paintings-that-inspired-the-movies/p5).

Le Gamaar Cinema was modeled after Hopper's work (as well as two surviving movie palaces: the Los Angeles Theater, and the Vista Cinema Silverlake in the same city). Various shots of Shosanna in Paris have also been likened to Hopper paintings.

In the words of Michelangelo Antonioni, "Any film that can be described in words is not really a film." And in the words of Edward Hopper, "If you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint it."

This list is a tribute to the influence Hopper's paintings have had on the movies (and their creators) over the years.
