Continuation of the D&D and AD&D PC games list I started with Dungeons & Dragons - The Classics. I left off that list around aprox 1998, when the legacy 'Gold Box' titles were getting stale, SSI lost the license to Interplay/Atari, and games went from turn-based combat in 2D world to real-time combat in full 3D environment. Basically, when Baldur's Gate got released.
Baldur's Gate revolutionized the RPG genre and gave the D&D franchise a big popularity boost, and it was followed by equally successful expansions, sequels, Icewind Dale series, and of course, Neverwinter Nights.
There's a few odd titles in this list, such as Ruins of Myth Drannor, which was one SSI's one last attempt at keeping the dying turn-based style of game going, and some nice surprise hits in Planescape: Torment, Temple of Elemental Evil, and Dragonshard.
