Remakes: Nintendo DS
Remake of the first Broken Sword game, released in 1996 as Circle of Blood.
The original Chrono Trigger was released on the NES in 1995, then remade for the PlayStation in 1999.
Puceron's rating:
Basically a port of the PSP version, which in turn is an enhanced remake of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (2003, PlayStation 2).
Dragon Warrior IV was released on the NES in 1990, with a PlayStation version in 2001.
Puceron's rating:
Dragon Quest V was originally released on the SNES in 1992, and was remade for the PlayStation 2 in 2004.
Puceron's rating:
This 2006 release was the first time Final Fantasy III was brought to North America. The original game was released in 1990 on the NES.
Puceron's rating:
Final Fantasy IV had first left Japan as Final Fantasy II to confuse everyone (and I hate when it is referred as that today), in 1988 (again on the NES).
Remake of the first game in the series, a 1990 NES game.
A bit of 'cheating' here: this isn't a remake of an individual game, but rather a collection of three games originally released on the Game & Watch (for which some games had a dual screen years before the release of the Nintendo DS, or even the original GameBoy). The games included are Oil Panic, Donkey Kong and Green House.
The original game, The Great Giana Sisters (1987, various computer systems), was pulled from the shelf because Nintendo wanted to sue the creators as the game was similar to Super Mario Bros.
The DS remake (on a Nintendo console, obviously...) adds several new levels as well as some new items and functions. Puceron's rating:
Remake, with added mini-games, of Kirby Super Star (1996, SNES).
Remake of the first two Ys games, Ys: The Vanished Omens (1987, various platforms including NES and Master System) and Ancient Ys Vanished: The Final Chapter (1988, MSX and NES).
The console game Need For Speed: Carbon adapted to the Nintendo DS and PSP handheld systems.
This game includes all the levels from the original Peggle game and from its sequel, Peggle Nights. It also adds various features present in neither of the other two games.
Puceron's rating:
Enhanced port of the Japan-only Game Boy Advance Gyakuten Saiban.
Puceron's rating:
Another enhanced port, this time of Gyakuten Saiban 2.
Puceron's rating:
Includes mini-games from Point Blank (1997, PlayStation), Point Blank 2 (1998, PS) and Point Blank 3 (2000, PS).
Remake of Pokémon: Gold Edition, first released on the GameBoy Color.
The long-awaited remake of Pokémon: Silver Edition, first released on the GameBoy Color.
Puceron's rating:
Remake of the first Resident Evil game (PlayStation, 1996).
