GemLil's rating:
Disney Princesses are always getting themselves into somekind of scrape. Luckily they usually have an entourage of sidekicks or magical guardians to fend off danger untill the Prince arrives. Some married into the thrones, some had a complex relationship with daddy. They all got their man in the end though. This is is in honour of the relentless husband searching qualities of the DISNEY PRINCESS.
just pointing out Meg is not a princess neither is Mulan sorry and you could argue that Pocahontas isn't either since she was actually the daughter of the tribe's cheif and is never called the princess at any time during the movie.
Great list! Wish I could've voted more than once. ;)
While there is some debate about the inclusion of Mulan on this list (no, she isn't technically a princess), and the exclusion of Princess Kida of Atlantis amongst many others, the current official line-up of the Disney Princess franchise is:
from left to right: Jasmine, Snow White, Mulan, Aurora, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Tiana, Belle, Ariel, and Rapunzel.
Meg is`nt a princess in the movie though...I guess she is kinda like a princess since goes with Hercules who is a god....but where is Kida,Eilonwy,Tiger Lilly,Melody..but I guess these are only the ones in the franchise, since you had Mulan in there.
This is stupid.
1) Mulan married a military leader NOT a prince
2) Megara did NOT marry a prince, she married a DEMIGOD
3) There are so many missing princesses that this makes me sick. Especially because some of them put the current list to shame. Eilonwy Llyr from The Black Cauldron for one, puts ALL of them to shame. And commenters: ANASTASIA IS NOT DISNEY. You've also forgotten, as mentioned above: Kida, Tigerlily, Nancy, Mia, ugh...Look up a list of Disney movies and just get the accurate ones at least.
Requirements of being a Disney Princess:
Note: Sequels do not count. All must be present in the first movie.
1)Must belong to Disney. Anastasia, Thumbelina, etc. are not Disney
2)Must be a princess, or close to, either by marriage or birth. Therefore Mulan counts because in Ancient China, being a general or war lord was just as prestigious as being a king or emperor. Megara doesn't count because she didn't marry a prince, she married a Demigod, which is different.
3)Must have contributed to the story of the movie in some significant way or be a strong positive influence for young girls. Jane from Tarzan does not count because she didn't do anything spectacular except teach Tarzan about humans and that did more harm than good.
4)Must be in love with the Prince role of the movie. Mia from the Princess Diaries, didn't really have a prince role, friends that you just realized are more than that, do not count. Giselle fell in love with the 'pauper' role, so she's excluded.
5)Must be animated. Otherwise Disney would end up owing the actresses ten times more than they already do, since there would be that much more merchandise with their face on it. This excludes Mia, Giselle and many others.
6)Must be endangered by a villian who plots for her demise or prince's demise or demise of her love for the prince. Note: demise does not mean death, only downfall or failure in one's goals.
7)Must include some form of magic or something magic-like. Pocahontas would be included because the Native Americans practiced a spiritual religion, which is referred to in the movie, during the Colors of the Wind.
Disney actually follows a guideline of these sorts when considering who to include in the Disney Princess franchise. Remember it's all about who will generate the most interest and therefore most money. So princesses like Ana from Bug's Life and Mia and Giselle are excluded since they wouldn't make the franchise as much money.
Mulan's with that General and Meg's well with a Demigod.
it would be great if you put her on!

.. sorry for the doublepost -.-
Meg and Jasmine are my absolutely favorite, although Aurora is the most beautiful, imho
