I don't understand how FromSoftware could possibly have the man-power to release 3 full titles for the PS2 launch... Also, lots of Ridge Racer games at console launches.
Nope. Actually, I was doing Atari 2600 research last weekend and started looking up its launch titles for my hobby site, which led me to a Wikipedia page dedicated to launch titles for each system, which became my inspiration.
But I do agree, the 3DS launch line-up looks pretty poor. I haven't played any of the games, but on paper it looks like to be a sub-par line-up.
I wonder where you got this information. For some console, there were like only 3 games and for other 20 games maybe. Little hard to believe. For example, I bought the PS1 when it came out (with Ridge Racer) but also another fighting game a-la-soulcalibur but I don't remember the name. It was nothing great but it was definitely released during the PS1 launching. And I'm pretty sure Rayman came later.
But these are small things, you did a real good job. I feel so old now...
According to GameFAQS and Wikipedia Rayman came out 09/01/95, The ps1 launch was 9/9/95, so it was a launch title.
The fighting game you are thinking of was Battle Arena Toshinden. I also played this at launch and thought is was great, but looking back at it, its a terrible game..
Very nice. I actually remember opening up the Master System as a kid and pulling out Hang-On/Astro-Warrior. Plus, the Master System came with a built-in 2D maze game that you could access from the startup menu if there wasn't a cartridge or game card in the system. Anyone remember that?
Nice list. Time consuming i'm sure but well done. Only question I have is why in the hell did you put TS Future Perfect as a PS2 launch? You can click the game on this website and see when it was released which was like I thought, around 2005. Weird it was on there, nice list otherwise.
@Phoenix1745 thanks, that was a mix up, it was supposed to be just "TimeSplitters" but I dragged the wrong title over when I was building the list. Fixed.
