Arthur Miller's classic play about the Salem Witchcraft Trials is an excellent introduction to colonial America and to the Red Scare of the late 1940s and early 1950s.

I didn't add any of these, because the first two are innacurate and racist (so they aren't useful to me) and the second, I haven't had a chance to look for a good one. I'm assuming the recommendation was for the Disney movie, though, which I'm not planning to add. That's not to say that I've reviewed the others, but, it's a starting point.
