Title: The Book of Hallowe'en
Author: Ruth Edna Kelley
Year: 1919

The world's first Halloween history book!

Feel free to make suggestions! Just keep in mind, I'm only adding works from the early 1900s and back, but I am including stuff of note that doesn't fall under the category of "fiction" (ex: The Book of Hallowe'en, the first Halloween history book).

I made the mistake of adding " The Monk, A Romance" to my list it is in fact an anthology of various works... and not a very favorable anthology at that. The reviews are particularly terrible.

Instead of the anthology version.

Gotcha. I'll be rearranging this thing little by little.

Your list is now linked to mine. Yay! Some how we will get all the bases covered :)

Yes, for the recorded. PK was kind enough to let me copy his list. It is a long story, involving a lot of crying and claw marks. Who knew my cat hated having her photo taken?

Before the animal rights activists come pouring in - the whole thing was the cat's idea.

Nice list - there's a couple on here I'll definitely have to check out! Thanks!

Great list! How about The String of Pearls (better known as, Sweeney Todd), Tales of Terror and Mystery by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Oxford Book of Victorian Ghost Stories (an anthology), The Willows and The Empty House and Other Ghost Stories both by Algernon Blackwood and perhaps something of H.P. Lovecraft? :)

Victorian Fantasy!!

I apologize profusely (profusely! [profusely!]) for not replying to you earlier on your earlier reply. Needless to say, all your suggestions fit perfectly and will be added as such.

I need to reorganize this little ditty into sections. Maybe add a comment or two explaining their significance, maybe throw in some denim earmuffs... We'll see.
