1. City Lights (1931)

It's unbelievable how ending can be so touching every time I see it. There will never be another movie like this, though Modern Times and The Gold Rush are very close.

2. Modern Times (1936)

Perfect satire and love story. Demonstration scene is one of the most memorable scenes in Chaplin's movies as is also the ending where two main characters walks towards the sunset.

One of the greatest love stories of all time. This is also Chaplin at his most optimistic because this is also a success story.

Black comedy at it's best. Very intelligent. Verdoux is a complex character.
