Cancelled too soon? Or not soon enough?

1. Freaks and Geeks (1999)
Ended: Too soon

This series had so much potential, it's one of the few high school shows that I could relate to on some level. Not to mention it had an absolutely amazing cast and excellent writers. Although it was cancelled after only one season the show has generated a loyal cult following.

2. The Simpsons (1989)
Ended: Not soon enough (Since it's still going!)

Now generally speaking I am a fan of this show, especially the earlier seasons. It's genuinely funny for the most part but it has dragged on for far too long. I mean there's only so many stories a show can use before it becomes tired and the quality of it's episodes diminishes. It's time to stop!

3. My So-Called Life (1994)
Ended: Too Soon

Although it was over dramatic at times this show was filled with great monologues, and I'm sure almost every teenager feels that every little bad thing in their life is the end of the world. My So-Called Life made it okay to think that. The show ended at such a horrible moment, because the producers believed it would be back for a second season. This one definitely died too soon!

4. The O.C. (2003)
Ended: Not Soon Enough

I'll be the first to admit that I really loved this show while it was on. Yes, it was unbelievably dramatic, but that's where it's appeal came from. I was just really not a fan of the fourth season, it mostly just annoyed the hell out of me. I'm sure there's a lot of people who will disagree, but oh well.

5. Veronica Mars (2004)
Ended: Too Soon

Veronica Mars was a witty, fun, and interesting show that really could have continued for at least one more season. I'll admit I didn't like the third season as much as the first two, but I'd really love to see the show taken in a new direction, like it was supposed to be. I blame the cancellation entirely on Piz, because oh how I hate him. Let's hope the whole movie thing will work out eventually!

6. King of the Hill (1997)
Ended: Not Soon Enough

Although it could be said that King Of The Hill was never that great a show to start with I would say that the first few season were watchable. After that it just got tired and I truthfully haven't seen most of the last seasons because I completely lost interest. Thankfully it's finally over.

People who added this item 193  Average listal rating (118 ratings) 6.9  IMDB Rating
7. Undeclared (2001)
Ended: Too Soon

Undeclared wasn't as good as Freaks and Geeks but it was still an amazing show! It's a shame that such a funny show didn't get a great chance. Adding yet another item to my list of favourite shows that only ran one season.

8. The Drew Carey Show (1995)
Ended: Not Soon Enough

I don't really have anything too bad to say about this show because most of the time I enjoyed it. I think it just wasn't as funny near the end, I would've been happy with less seasons.

People who added this item 71  Average listal rating (44 ratings) 8  IMDB Rating 8.3
9. Clone High (2002)
Ended: Too Soon

Clone High was such a hilarious show, and it's actually pretty fitting that the one season long series ended on such a cliffhanger. Despite that being said I've always wanted to see more!

10. Scrubs (2001)
Ended: Not Soon Enough

Don't get me wrong, I really do love Scrubs, the first few seasons were amazing. The thing is, it just got steadily worse as seasons progressed, I'd still prefer watching it over a lot of other shows though. Now I hear that the ninth season will be happening and that J.D. and Elliot will only be back for six episodes? Yeah, it's time to stop.

11. The Unusuals (2009)
Ended: Too Soon

I really liked the direction this show was going in. It wasn't your typical cop drama, I mean there was drama but the humour kept it interesting. I think lack of advertising and promotion is what caused it's demise, I'm still hoping that somehow it'll come back.

12. Dollhouse (2009)
Ended: Too Soon

It looked like Dollhouse might make it with the cult following it's already generated. Unfortunately it seemed like the show was almost destined to be canceled, after the rest of the second season airs there will be no more Dollhouse. It's a shame with good characters and a really interesting premise I think it could have lasted longer.

13. Two and a Half Men (2003)
Ended: Not Soon Enough (it's still around)

In my opinion this show was only moderately funny to start with and now, during the 7th season its just downright boring. Honestly, not much has changed for this show, the characters still have no real depth and quite frankly the repetitive story lines and jokes have gotten old.

A list of show that I feel were either cancelled too soon or were dragged out for too long. In no particular order.

I don't believe I ever watched that show, maybe I'll find it online and give it a try.

I think Pushing Daisies was cancelled far too soon. ;_;
Posted: 5 years, 1 month ago at Sep 13 0:36
Also something I haven't seen though, I've heard good things about it though.

Pushing Daisies should have been canceled after episode 1. What a horrible show.
Posted: 5 years ago at Oct 17 14:18
You get my vote for hating Piz, he was the worst character on the show, but you REALLY need to add Firefly here.
Posted: 5 years ago at Oct 17 15:55
Thanks for the comments! Piz was really just awful. I might add other shows eventually, I don't add the ones I haven't seen.

Keen Eddie, the funniest cop show of it's time was cancelled waaay too early. The soundtrack was also changed to crappy music for the DVD release, which was weird. And oh yeah, Dilbert Animated was also something that deserved a longer running time.

I haven't watched those, but I'll check them out then perhaps they'll end up on the list, thanks for the reccomendations. :)

I think Two and a half men should have ended long ago. It´s not funny anymore
Posted: 4 years, 8 months ago at Feb 9 0:50
So true, I'll add that one for sure!
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Feb 23 16:33
Yea I agree, Arrested Development should be on this list as WAY TOO SOON.
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Feb 23 16:50
What about October Road? hahaha!
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Feb 24 1:31
Unfortunately I never really watched any of the shows you've all mentioned, if I do ever get around to seeing the shows I've wanted to catch up on then I'll definitely add them, thanks for the comments!
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Mar 5 18:20
Yes, Arrested Development should be on this list. Too soon :( Also, I think That '80s Show wasn't that bad. Wanted more of that.
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Mar 5 22:04
I'll definitely have to get around to actually watching Arrested Development. I wasn't a big fan of That 80's show, I always compared it too much to that 70's Show and it just wasn't as good.
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Mar 13 18:08
I have to agree about Scrubs. Until 8th season I ran home every new episode, eager to see it online. Now I can't even say if it's yet on air, is it? =|
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Mar 15 1:01
I know! Yeah, there's a ninth season ending on the 17th, but I'm not sure if it will continue past that point, does it really matter? Not in my opinion. :P

So glad someone else is bummed the unusuals got cancelled. I also miss Veronica Mars something fierce.
Posted: 4 years, 2 months ago at Jul 31 2:35
Being a Joss Whedon fan I think FIrefly was canceled too soon, as for Whedon alumni Nathan Fillon's "Drive" both were really good shows, that were never given a chance to get a fan following. Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles was canceled too soon as well

did u ever see dead like me? i love that show, and thought it got cancelled way too soon...

Omg just checked out the only season of Freaks and Geeks on youtube and almost cried when it ended so soon =( freaking great show. And it left so many unanswered questions.

October road!!!

Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money were both cancelled too soon, but they were also victims of the actors strike that year and when they finally came back, the audience went elsewhere.
Posted: 1 year, 7 months ago at Feb 23 3:26
life on a stick =p
Posted: 1 year ago at Oct 16 18:14
As much as I liked South Park, that should be on this list, too. Really; there was a 3-parter from the 14th season that would have made a good series finale, but no...
