In honor of Billboard's 50th anniversary, they've put out their list of Top Artists based on songs that charted from August 1958 until July 2008.

The only missing item is Tony Orlando & Dawn (#78).

A very inrteresting list with some things most people would not think to be true, such as:

Hall and Oates was a more successful duo than The Everly Brothers.

Wings had bigger hits than The Bee Gees.

Chubby Checker beating Foreigner.

I would have thought Elvis would be right behind the Beatles. Instead, Madonna and Elton John topped him.

Bob Seger having bigger hits than Fleetwood Mac.

Herman's Hermits beating Simon and Garfunkel.

I already knew the Billboard Hot 100 was normally a pile of shit. This just reconfirmed it seeing Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and fucking Chicago ranked so high. Not even counting the other crap like Duran Duran which I'll kill myself before I have to review any of their records.
