The greatest film of all time! The attention to detail, writing, wit, and heart are all brilliantly displayed in this film that contains the perfect mixture of drama, comedy, action, romance, and adventure.
It captures the United States' finer moments and embarrassing moments and includes figures that made social and polical impact from the 50s to the 80s. This film needs to be seen a minimum of ten times before you die. "Lt. Dan said I didn't have to worry about money no more, and I though 'Good... one less thing!'" Stehako's rating:
The second greatest film of all time! Yes, my two favorite films have come out of the same year. This is without a doubt the funniest movie ever made. Besides maybe four lines from side characters, every single line in this film is funny. Through the years some of the jokes have grown tired, but only because people use them so much in every day life. This film will never grow old and will most likely be Jim Carrey's funniest film he ever does.
Stehako's rating:
This was my favorite comedy of all time, until Dumb and Dumber came out a few months later. I was amazed at how funny this guy was, being that it was the first film I had seen him in. He is one of my favorite characters of all time.
Stehako's rating:
One of the greatest animated achievements, and the last great non-CG animated film we'll see. Great music, characters, and story.
Stehako's rating:
The best non-war action film ever made... damn 1994 was a good year. Both Arnolds are at their best, and I know most will disagree; but I think this is better than nearly all the James Bond films.
Stehako's rating:
Once again, most will disagree; but I think this is Stone's best film he has created. It's got an amazing cast and insane imagery that begs for repeat viewing. I loved and I'm not a violent person in the least.
Stehako's rating:
Still one of the best romantic comedies, a lot of films have to give credit to this one. Hugh Grant is brilliant and Andie McDowell is always a treasure.
Stehako's rating:
The third film with Jim Carrey, it's easily his best year and I think only Ben Stiller in 2004 (Meet the Fockers, Starsky & Hutch, Along Came Polly, Dodgeball, Envy, & a cameo in Anchorman) has come close to matching such an amazing year in comedy.
This film could have easily been horrible without Jim Carrey Stehako's rating:
Everyone frickin' loves this film. I enjoyed the hell out of it; but I think most will be disappointed with the #9 spot.
Stehako's rating:
You can't expect anything intellectual from a Paulie Shore movie; but I have watched this film nearly ten times and have loved each viewing. It's simple mind-at-ease fun.
Stehako's rating:
Several iconic scenes that are all quite entertaining on their own. As a whole movie, it's not that great.
Stehako's rating:
Redford's second best directorial effort (his debut with 'Ordinary People' is still his best). Great storytelling and superb acting.
Stehako's rating:
If this movie came out this year I wouldn't consider ever watching it, now that I've seen way too many horrible Nick Cage movies; but this is back in his prime and is a good-hearted film that is very watchable a second or third time.
Stehako's rating:
At one time I thought it was better than the first, and it's still pretty damn close. It was funnier and bigger; but didn't quite have all the earnestness of the first one.
Stehako's rating:
The best sports documentary ever ('Murderball' came close), following two inner-city Chicago high school basketball students for several years, it wows the viewer with such ease and natural grit. You know it's long (over three hourse directors' cut) but you don't mind at all.
Stehako's rating:
Several iconic scenes that are all quite entertaining on their own. As a whole movie, it's not that great.
A circle? Genius design. Stehako's rating:
Better than 'Patriot Games'. It's filled with great scenes and adapted well from Clancy's novel.
Stehako's rating:
The best movie about a hack director ever, and the film that convinced me to like Depp.
Stehako's rating:
A surprisingly insightful film looking into college basketball recruiting tactics. A bit formulaic and hokey, but satisfying and original at the same time.
Stehako's rating:
The iconic film the youth of 1994. The soundtrack, screenplay, and acting make for the perfect microcosm of the year's teenage and early 20s crowd.
Stehako's rating:
A silly idea that materialized perfectly for the time it was made. Keanu's one-liners, Daniels' good-guyness, Hopper's wackyness, and Bullock's lovableness are all featured and perfected in this classic 90s blockbuster.
Stehako's rating:
Tom Cruise a bad guy? I don't know why he waited until 'Collateral' to do it again, because it was quite entertaining.
Stehako's rating:
It's a good thing I am Portman's age, because I thought she was hot even back then.
Stehako's rating:
One of the best westerns of the 90s... yeah, that's not saying much; but it was still pretty good. Costner proved that he can do baseball movies and westerns.
Stehako's rating:
Better and sweeter than the original. And appropriately more colorful.
Stehako's rating:
Ensemble cast, good directing and writing, story was okay.
Stehako's rating:
A good follow-up to the modern classic. The characters and story are nearly just as good.
Stehako's rating:
Great adaptation from the book. Moving and haunting.
Stehako's rating:
Great cast and enjoyable on a sunday afternoon... in fact, I'm watching it right now.
Stehako's rating:
Bad-ass for anyone but Nicholson (for him, it was mediocre)
Stehako's rating:
Pesci shows a different side to his usual one-note acting.
Stehako's rating:
Foster continues to show news sides to her plethora of acting notes.
Stehako's rating:
The second-to-last really good stupid spoof movie (the last is 'Scary Movie'
Stehako's rating:
'Blanc' is better than 'Bleu', not as good as 'Rouge'
Stehako's rating:
This surreal and dark film becomes even more so because of Lee's death on the set.
Stehako's rating:
Dumber, sillier, and funnier than the first. Yuker is still the best character.
Stehako's rating:
Pretty good adaptation, and good acting by Jones and co.
Stehako's rating:
This movie actually got me into bull riding for a while. Perry should have tried more films than this, he wasn't half bad.
Stehako's rating:
Jones hits another success. Not a fun biopic but still well-done.
Stehako's rating:
I was a huge fan of Dana Carvey around this time; so I watched this one several times. I'm one of the very very few in this world that can actually say that without joking.
Stehako's rating:
A nice romantic/somewhat original story with touching and comedic moments.
Stehako's rating:
Not one of Martin's better films; but he's always watchable and the story is cute and a good one for a father and daughter.
Stehako's rating:
As a kid I rented movies if I thought there was going to be a lot of nudity in them, the cover fooled movie slightly.

Description
My two favorite films of all time were made in the same year, and the first half of the list is pretty damn solid, making it one of the best years for film (of course, in my mind.)
