One of my favorite bands from the '80s. After that, not so much.

I would have to say that this is the band that really got me into music. Them and Pearl Jam. Of course, like most bands, when they got off the drugs, they went downhill.

Layne was one of my favorite singers. They were awesome.

I saw them right before they got big. Around '93 I think. I was blown away. Took a minute for me to get used to, but watching them play was amazing.

Throwing Copper is a favorite of mine. The first two albums by them were wonderful. Nothing flashy, no guitar solos, but really good writing.

Loved this band. One of the bands that defined my generation.

They opened for STP. They were really good, even if I did only know 2 of their songs.

I LOVE THIS BAND! Wonderful, wonderful guitar work! 3 of them take turns at lead singing, so all their songs sound so different.

Very different band. I liked them alot though. Of course, I was drunk.

This is one of those "guilty pleasure" bands for me. I like his song writing style alot. And sometimes I'm just in the mood for something pleasant sounding. This band has some great backing harmonies. Good backing vocals and harmonies are very hard to do and very underrated.

Saw them twice. Watching them was like going to the circus. They would switch instruments mid-song and not miss a beat. They were really, really good.

One of my first loves. To me, they were alternative before there was alternative.

They are the Grateful Dead of today. Huge, huge following, and they have never made a music video.

My band was thrown on tour with this band and the next two on my list, Train and Counting Crows. Don't care for either of these bands really, but BTE were really nice guys.

Lead singer is an ass, and alot shorter in person. He, to me, is one of the worst songwriters.

They sound absolutely horrible live. Thank god we only had to play 2 shows with them.

Hmm, love this band, but didn't like the way Maynard sung behind a curtain type thing. Sounded great though.

Ok, was not a fan when I went, but I left one. They put on a great show. I was really impressed. I get it now.

One of the few newer bands I like. Love the vocals and lyrics, and they have a hell of a drummer.

Seen them 3 times. I really like this group. You'll see alot of bands on here that are considered harder, but most of them are more mid-range, which is what I like.

Love this band, but they don't sound very good live. Also, they would be really, really good if they got a new drummer.

It was like listening to a new version of Guns' N' Roses. I mean that in a good way. They rocked and she could wail.

Punk band, and the only punk band I like is Social Distortion. Until now. I loved them. They didn't sound like every other punk band and they had amazing melodies.

They were good. Didn't know a whole lot about them before I went, but they left me wanting to know more.

Ok, so I've tried to put these in order from the earliest to the most recent. Keep in mind, some shows DO NOT reflect my taste in music. Sometimes you just gotta go because of a woman.

Now I want to see Rusted Root! Wonder if they're still around... Curious about your band also now. Did you see Alice In Chains when Layne was still alive?

Seen about half of these bands live also, and agree with your assessments of their live shows.

I have no idea if they are still around. Wow, now that I think about it, I saw them last back in the 90's. Good lord time flies! I was lucky enough to see AIC with Layne. Unfortunately it was at a large music festival and I was so far away. Not near as personal as if I had seen them at a smaller venue. My band? Hmmm, one of those hard lessons to learn. We broke up around 2001. Everything literally happened overnight for us. Long story short, with the help of a successful friend, we got relatively big in our area, signed with a record company, and we broke up in the middle of recording our c.d. All I have now is a half finished c.d. of our music.

Awesome that you got to see them while Layne was still alive. I was supposed to see them open for Metallica in '94, but they dropped off the tour (and were replaced by Candlebox of all things blah).

Too bad about your band, but these things happen I suppose. Not the first time I've heard of that happening. Do you still play? (looks like it from your pic)
