As well as leading the Rebel alliance and regularly encountering her enemies of the Galatic Empire, she manages to resist the charismatic Captain Solo...for a while at least.
And after succumbing to Solo's charm, she courageously risks her own life to save him.
She is ruthless and often cruel, using those around her
as pawns for her own personal gain.
She will let nothing stand in the way of her pursuit for power.
She resents being labeled a 'damsel in distress', which implies she cannot look after herself. She will teach men, demi-gods and gods of their mistake.
She is a feminist rebel and her past has caused her to treat most men with contempt. Being ridiculed for her radical opinions has only increased her determination to be heard.
After years of being treated like dirt, She decides to take her life into her own hands.
Never again will her or her friend suffer at the hands of men, she'll make sure of that.
Stranded on a messed-up island, she uses manipulation to ensure that she knows what is happening and courage to tackle it. The island is controlled by men...and she pretty much controls them.
If you want to stay away from Sci-fi, how about these:
1) The women from 'Calendar Girls'
2) Emma Thompson as Elinor Dashwood from 'Sense and Sensibility'
3) Lisa Edelstein as Lisa Cuddy in 'House MD'
4) Ione Skye as Diane Court in 'Say Anything'
Love this list, and the title make me laugh. If you're putting Megara in the list, might as well put Mulan too, she's the most bad-ass disney 'princess' out there, but the list are very good as it is :)
Science Fiction has a lot to offer aswell!
Ellen Ripley? Sarah Connor? Leela from Futurama? Red Sonja? Vasquez from Aliens? Miho from Sin City?
Miss Man from Another Teen Movie (literally)?
1) The women from 'Calendar Girls'
2) Emma Thompson as Elinor Dashwood from 'Sense and Sensibility'
3) Lisa Edelstein as Lisa Cuddy in 'House MD'
4) Ione Skye as Diane Court in 'Say Anything'
.... that's what I thought of off-hand :)
Great list though.
Also, one of my favorites, Linda Hunt as Stella in "Silverado."
