johanlefourbe: Nick is my step-son and he is autist. The plan is to watch those movies together and see what he thinks about it. We built up this list together and I'm responsible for the layout.
Great list! I wouldn't have pegged some of these as movies about autism, at least at first glance. For example, I wouldn't have thought of Little Man Tate as a movie about the autism spectrum, but now that I think about it, he definitely has Asperger's traits.
If you ever decide to add some commentary to some of the items on this list, I'd love to hear more about what you thought about how autism was portrayed in some of these films. (Was it realistic? Was the character with autism well developed?)
By the way, I've seen about half the movies on this list. I'd say my favorites were Snow Cake and What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
As you may have noticed, nothing much is going on with this list. I'm afraid I was a little too ambitious and, frankly, Nick really hates talking about autism so, for the time being, it won't work out. Still, I hope in a couple of years to try this again with him. Keep you posted!
