Might I suggest Seven Samurai and Gojira (the original Godzilla)? They were made in the same year, by directors who were good friends, and are both considered to be two of the greatest Japanese films ever.
Nice list...we don't exactly agree on all the votes ("The Host" get only 3? and "Lady Vengeance" 2.5?! I could cry over this! :D ), but, still, very nice.
May I suggest to check out Shinya Tsukamoto's movies as well? I'd especially recommend "Snake of June", "Bullet Ballet" and "Tokyo Fist" (he also did a lot of other cool movies though).
I see you also watched and enjoyed Johnnie To's "Breaking News", you should check out his "PTU"!
I also don't see any Kim Ki-duk in here, I suggest you to watch "Bad Guy" and "Samaritan Girl".
Also, if you're generally interested in Asian movies, check out this list of mine and let me know what u think:
Audition
Happiness of the Katakuris
Katakuri-ke no kôfuku will be checked out sooner or later...
Also I'm forwarning you about Grave of The Fireflies. Absolutely amazing in every way, but it's really sad.
