The essential titles of this most important film genre since western.

Of course I only included the films from the so called new wave, which is considered to have begun somewhere in the beginning of the current millennium with the original American Pie, which is in some circles considered nowadays canon and The Breathless of American teen comedies.

The usual motifs and themes in these films are:

- sex (in various positions and with various people)
- drugs (because you really cannot be happy without drugs, and people on drugs are funny, heh heh...)
- House parties (usually with a swimming pool)
- beer (usually from a red plastic mugs)
- douchebags (These are usually football players from a local college team)
- If the protagonist is a male, the usual main theme of the film is getting laid (The usual target is a prom queen etc.)
- If the protagonist is a female the usual main theme is to become the prom queen (and then getting laid with a douchebag)
- nerds, geeks and other stereotypes (because stereotypes are fun, heh heh...)
