I love Dark City and Donnie Darko,excellent choices. Also Usual Suspects and Truman Show are very good. There are a couple on the list that I haven't heard of before, but a good list.

Love this list! I think that Moon and Inception would both go pretty well here. If you're going for older films too, Steppenwolf is pretty alternate-reality as well.

Storm (2005) is a great underrated Swedish film. I'm not sure why I'm so fond of this movie... oh subjective reality and emotionally dark... yep that would do it ;)
