1. Legend - Bob Marley & The Wailers
What more could I add than Will Smith's character says about this album in I Am Legend?

Essential Listening: Whole Album

2. Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses - Slipknot
This is METAL!

3. Michael Jackson - Vol. 1-Greatest Hits Histo... - Michael Jackson
Personally issues aside (and I do mean way aside) Jacko makes some really good music. 'Nuff said!

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

4. Transatlanticism - Death Cab For Cutie
The one good thing that MTV did for me (ever in life) was send a "friend" of mine a sampler disc of fairly undiscovered artists and this was the first time that I was introduced to Death Cab for Cutie. The sampler disc had "Title and Registration". Damn did I ever play the hell out of that song.

Essential Listening:"The New Year", "Lightness", "Title and Registration"
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 20  Average listal rating (11 ratings) 7.7
5. Hip Hop Is Dead - Nas
As I compile this list I am listening to "Hip Hop is Dead". Unmatched is just one word to describe this album. The ever controversial Nas turned Hip-Hop on it's head claiming that it was dead. Plenty of artists came to "defend" Hip-Hop and in turn for just a little while actually made better music.

Essential Listening: "Hip Hop is Dead", "Who Killed It", "Blunt Ashes"
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 383  Average listal rating (234 ratings) 7.7
6. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - The Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, James Iha, D'arcy Wretzky, Jimmy Chamberlin, Mike Mills
Billy Corgan is a genius. This is grunge, metal, alternative or whatever the hell you want to label it at it's finest. Label it Essential Listening for any fan of music.

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 281  Average listal rating (160 ratings) 7.6
7. The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails
Trent Reznor and Co. are pure genius. This had to be really difficult following up the The Downward Spiral I would imagine. But Trent once again doesn't disappoints.

Essential Listening: "Starf**kers", "Ripe (With Decay)", "Just Like You Imagined"
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 65  Average listal rating (36 ratings) 6.9
8. Graduation - Kanye West
Kanye West gets a lot of s**t for not being "ghetto/hood" or "black" enough and that's sad. Apparently rappers do not like when other rappers are diversified. Shame.
Personally, I think that the guy is genius. I imagine if I made music this is what it may sound like. Anime influenced 80's music if that makes any sense.

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 30  Average listal rating (15 ratings) 7.5
9. Faceless - Godsmack
One of the many clone Metallica groups to hit the scene. The only difference with Godsmack is that they are better than many of the other wannabe groups. This is the anti-EMO music that is definitely worth listening to if you are tired of people crying about their ex girlfriends.

Essential Listening: "Re-Align", "Straight Out of Line", "I F**kin' Hate You"
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 68  Average listal rating (36 ratings) 7.5
10. Razorblade Romance - HIM
I never heard of HIM until I watched an episode of Viva La Bam(I was out numbered so I had no choice!)and witnessed how much Bam loved these guys. Man does Bam ever have good taste in music.

Essential Listening: Whole AAlbum
Mr. Lays's rating:

11. The Poison - Bullet For My Valentine
Ah, EMO...

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 3  Average listal rating (2 ratings) 8
12. Word Of Mouth - Ludacris
Ludacris has come a long way for being a local DJ to one of the "bosses" in the industry. His second album has him almost flawless form.

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 197  Average listal rating (121 ratings) 7.3
13. Antichrist Superstar - Marilyn Manson
I once actually got called a Devil Worshiper for purchasing this album. Ignorance is a funny thing...

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 10  Average listal rating (4 ratings) 8.3
14. Confessions - Usher
Some times the best material is when it comes straight from the heart. This phenomenal piece of work is no exception.

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 1  Average listal rating (1 ratings) 10
15. Supreme Clientele - Ghostface Killah
Probably the single best ever Wu-Tang solo album to date. Purchase ASAP if you are a Wu-Tang fan or even a Hip Hop junkie. This is music for the soul.

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 154  Average listal rating (84 ratings) 7.1
16. Steal This Album! - System of a Down
SOAD is one of the most consistent rock groups out there. This album of "throwaways" is some of there best work.

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 15  Average listal rating (8 ratings) 7.5
17. RZA as Bobby Digital in Stereo - RZA
This body of work is either a stroke of genius or a colossal piece of garbage depending who you ask. Bizarre sampling and production sounds like something out of an instrument workshop. It actually works believe it or not.

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 21  Average listal rating (18 ratings) 7.8
18. Ready to Die - Notorious B.I.G.
Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis
When I was dead broke, man I couldn't picture this
50 inch screen, money green leather sofa
Got two rides, a limousine with a chauffeur
Phone bill about two G's flat
No need to worry, my accountant handles that
And my whole crew is loungin'
Celebratin' every day, no more public housin'
Thinkin' back on my one-room shack
Now my mom pimps a Ac' with minks on her back
And she loves to show me off, of course
Smiles every time my face is up in The Source
We used to fuss when the landlord dissed us
No heat, wonder why Christmas missed us
Birthdays was the worst days
Now we sip champagne when we thirst-ay
Uh, damn right I like the life I live
'Cause I went from negative to positive
And it's all...

(It's all good)

Essential Listening: The Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 11  Average listal rating (8 ratings) 7.5
19. Blackout! - Method Man
The EPIC feel of this album is something worth noting. It sounds like it was recorded using some type of "arena filter". Just like it was made to be played at Madison Square Garden.

Essential Listening: Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 486  Average listal rating (316 ratings) 7.5
20. In Utero - Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, Kera Schaley
Being honest Nirvana (being one of my favorite groups and all) did not have as much diversity as Alice in Chains in my opinion. In Utero showed a lot of growth from Nirvana. It's sad to see this flame burn out so quickly. This album Kurt Cobain called his masterpiece and it's hard to argue with that.

Essential Listening: "Rape Me", "Francis Farmer Will Have Her Revenge", "Scentless Apprentice"
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 9  Average listal rating (6 ratings) 7.2
21. Lord Willin' - Clipse
One of the best ever debut albums in Hip Hip history. Seriously right up there with Doggystyle, and Ready to Die.

Essential Listening: "Grindin'", "Ma I Don't Love Her", "When the Last Time"
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 43  Average listal rating (22 ratings) 8.7
22. Avenged Sevenfold - Avenged Sevenfold
A7x has grown alot and this album shows. They may be a bit overrated, but in my opinion they can do no wrong.

Essential Listening: "Almost Easy","A Little Piece of Heaven", "Scream"
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 1  Average listal rating (1 ratings) 8
23. In a Major Way - E-40
E-40 has been around forever yet still is slept on. How?! I do not know? How could you match other rappers even match E-40's vernacular? He is truly in a league of his own. Honestly, how many rappers rap about "Bulletproof Aprons"?

Essential Listening: "Sprinkle Me", "It's All Bad", "Smebbin'"
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 789  Average listal rating (468 ratings) 7.2
24. Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park
Sure they may not be the greatest song writers in the world and the guitar work is something left to be desired, but this one hell of debut album. Single after single made this one group that wasn't going to be ignored. Love them or hate them.

Essential Listening: The Whole Album
Mr. Lays's rating:

People who added this item 1  Average listal rating (1 ratings) 8
25. Trill - Bun B
To get straight to the point: Bun B's long awaited solo album was worth the wait.

Essential Listening: "The Story"
Mr. Lays's rating:
