1. Firefly (2002)
Day 1: A show that should have never been canceled

Considering its has only increased in popularity, the money-hungry FOX executives would have done well to ignore to the initial low ratings and focus on the show's potential. Had the exec's emphasized quality of content, it would still be on air, they would have made more money and we would have a show with characters worth caring about. Outside of Whedon creations it's rare to find well-developed characters, episodes of substance and original storylines.

2. Beavis and Butt-Head (1993)
Day 2: A show you wish more people were watching

The new episodes are as good as the mid-90's ones. And it's nice to have them commenting during their interludes on how awful MTV has become since the start of the century. Keep trashing those jackasses on the Jersey Shore, boys.

3. Sherlock (2010)
Day 3: Your favorite new show

Created by Stephen Moffat (the British Joss Whedon). His shows are not on the FOX network, thankfully.

4. Doctor Who (2005)
Day 4: Your favorite show ever

Doctor Who, currently in the hands of Stephen Moffat, destroys that antiquated notion that atheists are by definition immoral individuals. The show contains themes of pacifism (of a type) and humanitarianism (if you can call it that, what with dealing with aliens and all). The Doctor, no matter the actor, is always entertaining and the companion, though never as round as a Whedon woman, is compelling enough. And the story arc's, especially of this most recent season (six), are brilliantly-crafted.

Day 5: Your favorite episode of your favorite T.V. show

A Good Man Goes to War

Written by Moffat, this poem (also Moffat's) recited in the episode indicates why I love this episode/show:

"Demons run when a good man goes to war
Night will fall and drown the sun
When a good man goes to war

Friendship dies and true love lies
Night will fall and the dark will rise
When a good man goes to war

Demons run, but count the cost
The battle's won, but the child is lost"

Day 6: Least favorite episode of your favorite T.V. show

There are no bad Doctor Who episodes! Therefore, I'll say The Girl in the Fireplace by Stephen Moffat only because it is among the most depressing episodes in T.V. history.

5. Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2007)
Day 7: A show you hate

I confess I've never seen it. I still wish them eternal damnation.

No picture necessary. We've seen enough of them.

People who added this item 1731  Average listal rating (1161 ratings) 8.1  IMDB Rating 8.6
6. How I Met Your Mother (2005)
Day 8: A show everyone should watch

What with the numerous pop-culture references, the substance of the stories and the depth of the characters it can appeal to a variety of individuals. Like many people Ted has a desire to have what Marshall and Lily have (true love, something seemingly antiquated nowadays) but is continually influenced/pressured by Barney (like the media) to emphasize appearance and temporary pleasure. Like many people, he would do well to thoughtfully consider what the word 'love' means. That, I think, is why this show should be something everyone, or at least young adults and single middle-agers, should watch.

Ministry of silly walks!

8. Dexter (2006)
Day 10: A show you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving

Crime drama's do not interest me. I mostly stick with fantasy/sci fi and cartoon shows. However, Dexter, especially the first two seasons (for brilliant writing) and the fourth season (for John Lithgow), is great.

mika_'s rating:

9. Chuck (2007)
Day 11: A show that disappointed you

The premise is appealing to those of us who love fantasy/sci fi. However, Levi's acting is subpar, the relationship between Chuck and Sara for many, many, far too many episodes went nowhere and the storylines are too formulaic to be enjoyable.

Also, while they may believe that creating ass-kicking women is an advance of feminism, it really is a hindrance. Advancing feminism would be done by creating characters with different personalities (even a character that was of the submissive, fragile type so common in classical lit), not by giving all women on the show the exact same "personality" that can be defined as, simply, ass-kicker (or "strong and independent"), with dialogue consisting merely of dull statements that are meant to push the plot forward and appearing onscreen only to be gawked at and drooled over. (Note: many of the actresses are former models.)

Also: the male characters suffer in turn because, to keep the illusion going, they are written out of character by turning into children at the sight of a woman, therefore seeming, by contrast, underdeveloped. Bad for both genders, but most importantly women.

10. I Love Lucy (1951)
Day 12: A T.V. show you’ve watched more than four times

I've seen every I.L.L. episode at least 10 times over. Sad, but true. The only living female comedians who can hold a candle to her are Tina Fey, Megan Mullaley and Ellen DeGeneres.

11. Merrie Melodies: Starring Bugs Bunny and Fri... (1990)
Day 13: Favorite childhood show

Some of these episodes like Duck, Amuck and What's Opera Doc are surprisingly clever. I'm glad I grew up on this and not what's on Nick and Disney nowadays.

13. 30 Rock (2006)
Day 15: Favorite female character

Whedon women are popular examples of feminist characters in television but the Lizbean best expresses the real nature of feminism

:)

14. The Guild (2007)
Day 16: Your guilty pleasure show

Shouldn't feel guilty about liking this show. Though nerd culture is fashionable nowadays I'll be hear when the wind changes. I feel guilty only in that the gaming/nerd stuff seems forced, not honest.

15. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (2008)
Day 17: Favorite mini series

Reminds me of the song "I want to conquer the world" by Bad Religion:

"I want to conquer the world
Give all the idiots a brand new religion
Put an end to poverty, uncleanliness and toil
Promote equality in all of my decisions
With a quick wink of the eye and a "God you must be joking!"

Humorously stating the horrible effects of forceful conversion.

Day 19: Best T.V. show cast

Though he was still alright, I wish Gordon-Levitt was as good then as he is now. Since he was young, he's forgiven. Incredible cast.

21. Freaks and Geeks (1999)
Day 23: Most annoying character

Judging by what turned out to be the series finale Kim probably would have made great strides in her development. But in this lone season she was terribly written/performed.

Day 25: A show you plan on watching

Since The Office (U.S.) started its downward slope I've been thinking for a while of watching the show that spawned it. Don't know why I haven't started yet, since I like Gervais.

Day 26: OMG WTF? Season finale

Season 1 finale

Started oddly, finished fantastically...though still oddly.

The show was cancelled the next season. FOX strikes again...

25. Boy Meets World (1993)
Day 27: Favorite series finale

Was not expecting the ending to be that oddly impacting.

I demand a reunion!

26. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)
Day 28: First T.V. show obsession

At least this Whedon show got seven seasons. Was mostly obsessed with the first four seasons. I wanted to be Oz. I wanted to marry Willow

27. Battlestar Galactica (2004)
Day 29: Current T.V. show obsession

Happening upon 'What the frak?' absolutely everywhere I decided to try the show. I put it off thinking that the religious nature of the series would turn me off, but I was surprised to find out how well the characters were drawn, how engaging the storylines were and I'm just not as anti-religious as I used to be. I'm watching and rewatching this show frequently now.

day 30: Saddest character death

SPOLIERS

I'm going to assume that the death of Winifred Burkle midway between Season 5 was because Joss and his staff knew that they were to be cancelled at the end of the season. Had no cancellation been imminent the writing would not have been as rushed and Joss, I think, would've allowed the relationship of Fred and Wesley to progress. Wesley's death is also very sad.

Ministry of Silly Walks, Duck Amuck, and Colin & Ryan of Whose Line... nice! I DO want to check out B&B now that they're back on the air, just haven't yet. Loved them back in the day, so glad to hear the show is still worth watching.
