I had to see for myself if the movie was THAT bad.
Well, it was. Terrible editing, confusing plot, a bizarre acting of Jesse Eisenberg and pointless Wonder Woman presence.

The Coenn comedy's are always a delight of nonsense humour with a good dose of criticism, and I like this movie more than most of their recent work. A very underrated movie in their carreer.

BTW, Tim Robbins is amazing.

Sensual, thrilling, twisting, visually stunning and passionating. These are some of the words that can describe Chan-wook Park's The Handmaiden.

A beautiful reflection about life, death, memories, and what it all means in the infinite existence of the universe.

BUT it's too slow paced and conteplative for me. Didn't like "The thin red line", and could't enjoy this much more. Maybe Terrence Malick just isn't for me.

Superman (1978)
It's good to revisit a time when superheroes were more innocent, and the stories more naive.
The beginning of the movie drags until the end of the Smallville part, but when Christopher Reeve appears the movie shines, and I can understand why he was, is and will be the definitive Superman actor.

Rewatched for the first time in... many years.

Few directors have a debut movie with such style, security and personality. The cast is amazing, Tarantino's script and directing are incredible and full of memorable scenes, songs and quotes.

Still within my favorite movies of Tarantino's carreer.

Citizenfour (2014)
An important documentary that unfolds Snowden's revelation for 3 journalists about the norht america's surveillance programs.

But the direction and edition is weak, and is easy to get bored from all the information and little dinamic through the documentary.

The Witch (2015)
Like Babadook and The Shinning, The Witch just entered in the small group of horror movies that I love.

Great story abou religious paranoia and the guilty for being a woman. I also like how the movie gives us right in the beginning that the Witches are real, leaving screentime to develop the important aspects of the plot.

Visually stunning, but it lacks something... depth, coherence, or maybe this is the case that less would be better.

La La Land (2016)
Wow, just wow.

A passionating movie, full of colors and dreams;
Emma Stone is superb as Mia, and Gosling overflows charisma. Damien Chazelle can already figure between the great promises of Hollywood.

Many people didn't like the ending, but that was what sold the movie for me.

If it has any downsides (not being a 10/10), it's because the movie dosen't have memorable songs, and the big dance scenes are all in the first hour of the movie.

This is a fine mobster film, especially with such outstanding cast (highlights for Gary Oldman).
But I couldn't find in the end what the movie was really about. We hadn't Noolan's police side well explained, so we really don't get a whole scope of his motivation. And Ed Harris' character is so.... stupid, making just terrible decisions that really annoyed in the end.

Sausage Party (2016)
There are some good intentions here, like weighting religion and respect among different beliefes.

But the movie is most about swearing (not in a funny way, like South Park incredebly does), poor animation, and food talking. I mean, the trailer may give the audience the wrong impression about it, since the more visual violent and sexual stuff are a minimal part of the flick.

But I got admit, I loved the Orgy scene.

Sherlock, Jr. (1924)
Buster Keaton was MAD.

How could he do all those incredible stunts? And there are some tricks that just blew my mind and kept me wondering how they managed to do it.

And the flick is also very funny, a naive humour that we can only find in Keaton's and Chaplin's movies.

The Past (2013)
Sometimes half-truths, secrets or unrevealed facts can become worse than lies... that's what Farhadi's filmography keeps teaching me.

Strong acting and directing, a movie that shows how relationships can become complicated due to our past, fears, and uncertain future.

Angel's Egg (1985)
A wonderfully animated tale by Yoshitaka Amano (famous for his promotional arts of the Final Fantasy franchise)and Mamoru Oshii (director of Ghost in the Shell), but that drags too much... an one hour animation that feels like two.

The movie has few conversations and full of symbolisms that unfortunaly I could not connect with.

Zodiac (2007)
Revisited the movie after so many years.

There were many bits of the movie that I didn't remember, like how it can be disturbing in certain parts, and how it has some funny gags(!). Fincher is great in showing the spiral that the protagonists get sucked in for not solving the murders, and the frustrations of having to build a solid case before arresting someone, even if all the clues lead to the suspect.
But the movie may get a little bit confusing, specially by the end when Graysmith starts his own investigation.

But Memories of a Murder still is a better movie, and I can bet that David Fincher watched it many times before filming Zodiac.

Ethan Hawke is always a charismatic actor, and Sarah Snook (whom reminds me of a younger Tilda Swinton) is really amazing in her acting.

But the movie is too predictable, specially if you've seen a bunch of time travel stories, and the ending felt unsatisfcatory. A passable movie in the end.

An introspective movie about miserable people, in a miserable place, living a miserable life, with unreachable dreams but with a chance of redemption and turning over the table. Kinda.

Unfortunately, the beggining of the movie is a little hard to follow, because of the non-clear time line of events, that we only fully understand by the end of the first half hour of the movie.

Your Name. (2016)
Makoto Shinkai is well known for his stunning animations, and heartbreaking stories where distance always keeps lovers apart.

"Your name" has this elements, but this movies feels lighter than his previous works, with a lot of Slice of Life situations, and comic moments (the "grabbing boobs" gag always got me).

The plot is a bit misleading, with some curious twists in the middle that made me like it more in some aspects and less in others. The bittersweet tone in the end is also present here, but a lot more optimistic than before.

Moonlight (2016)
A sensible story about a good hearted boy being constantly punched down by his life.
Barry Jenkins direction is great, and it has many visually beautiful scenes, and an interesting use of colors.
But the movie lost me somewhere in the third act, and the absence of Mahershala Ali after the first part was also a little letdown for me.

Akira (1988)
Another rewatched movie. The last time I saw it, probably was about ten years ago.

Obviously being so long ago (and being so young!) I had no idea how amazing was the animation and, specially, the OST. Also, the movie has a lot of religous, politcs and social comentaries that only makes the movie richer.

Unfortunaly, the movie only covers the first 2 volumes of the manga (I think), and lot of things are left without answers, and with a open-ending.

But still, a classic of the animation.

Logan (2017)
Hugh Jackman finally got the Wolverine movie that he deserved, and with a spetacular goodbye for all the fans.

The action sequences are breathtaking and brutal, finally we can see how violent is being Wolverine. The old Xavier is hearthbreaking, but Sir Patrick can stil pull some laughs and melt our hearts. X-23 is simply amazing, it's been a long time since the last time I saw a good child sidekick.

I cried in the final frame, btw.

Troy (2004)
It was starting on TV and I decided to watch, since I had nothing left to do.
The battles and the number of extras in the war sequences were impressive, but the plot, acting and directing were weak, even for a blockbuster. It's really hard for me to swallow Hollywood actors portraying other ethnics.

Interesting to see that the stupid burocracies of the government doesn't exist only in your country (Brazil, in my case).

It's so frustrating to follow these characters, everything should be simple, accessible, easy... but the country just turns the back for them. It even has some kind of "involuntary humour" when we can idetify ourselves with the protagonist situations(and I'm still 28!).

Another Thriller/Horror, that the pussy here decided to take on.Fortunally, it only has 2 or 3 creepier sequences, so I did it all alright (almost).

Jokes apart, another great South Korean movie, with no humour at all (what is rare based in what I've seen from the country), but very catchy, tense, and with really wondeful frames and great use of colors (specially Purple), which is a common thing in Korean movies. The ending is great, but can be a little confusing, especially in regard to the father's relationship with the women in the end.

I missed this movie when I was young, and I finally fixed this mistake.
What a great action sci-fi movie, with great action scenes and special effect even for today. And of course, we can't miss all the political comments and the sarcarsm surrounding media, war, fascism.
Also, young Neil Patrick Harris.

unfortunally, I have no idea of how much of the original footage was in the version that I watched, which was colorized and with a electronic synthetizer.

But regardless, it's a great silence movie, with a story and a "creepines" ahead of it's time, especially for not being so naive as other stories told by the time.

Perfect Blue (1997)
I was only a teen when I watched it for the first time, and I remember that I didn't like it very much.

Well, this is the kind of movie that takes some maturity to be fully apreciated, after all, it's hard to get all the criticism to the media (specially japanese), carrer and machism or notice the homage to The Silence of the Lambs. And there's more, because Satoshi Kon's direction is masterfully done, creating a visually interesting movie and very well edited, making it intriguing, but no confusing.

It's not a surprise that Perfect Blue became Kon's great debut, and an international reference for others filmakers(directors Aronofsky and Nolan, for example).
