2012 Movie Diary - August
August 1st
Just one film, a first time viewing.
It completely destroyed the franchise. It's a franchise ruiner, it ruins people's franchises!! Honestly, everything about completely disregards all previous instalments. I mean, did the makers of this even see the original? My guess: no. It's a massive pile of 'whatthefuck,' SO confusing and stupid. There was on scene I liked. One scene.

One film, a first time viewing.
The whole thing kind of went over my head a little bit, but the acting is definitely as amazing as everyone says it is! Vivien Leigh is just.. wow.. no words honestly!! Also, I've never seen a Marlon Brando film before.. he was definitely more than just a sexy man. He was an extremely mature and talented and sexy man! :D I have never read/seen the play, so it was a completely new production to me and I think it would honestly have benefited if I'd seen it on stage before. I'd probably understand it. But if you're looking for "old-age-Hollywood" acting at its best, then definitely watch this.

Three films today, two first time viewings.
Really really liked it!! Not as good as Some Like It Hot but better than Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Marilyn-wise.. I loved Betty Grable too! I don't think Lauren Bacall was as good though.. I'd really need to see more of her movies. And like my sister said, whatever she did she just epitomised the word "villain," her face, her voice, so evil.. Weird.

I LOVE Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler in this so much!! I found Diane Keaton a little annoying though.. It's so witty! And strangely realistic.. I also love a bit of Dame Maggie Smith was sad that we didn't get more Stockard Channing.. But oh well, it is what it is.. And me likey!!

Wow, drama.com! The acting in this film is AMAZING. I loved Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron especially. I think the story is very well written and the way it all plays out, in un-chronological order towards the big reveal is fantastic!! Kim Basinger annoyed me, but she was only one little piece of a massive jigsaw puzzle that ended up making a thoroughly enjoyable film.

Holy shit there is some fantastic acting in this film.. Amy Adams and Christian Bale were my favourites. I was really glad that Mr B won his Oscar, although I feel Melissa Leo stole hers from Amy, not happy!! I was also pretty pissed off that Mark Wahlberg got ignored.. But oh well, life's a bitch.

Just one film again, another first time viewing.
I think I will always remember this film, but I have no idea why!! It just stuck with me.. Molly Ringwald is amazing, I can't believe she was only 16 when she made this! It's so funny, and then it's kind of sad, but not for too long cos then everyone laughs again! I absolutely LOVED it!

3 films, all Disney :D
Of course I love it, it's a classic! Are you insane? Not one of the funniest Disney movies and it doesn't have AMAZING musical numbers, but there are moments of sheer genius, both comedic and methodical. LOVE Verna Felton's characters, they're always the best! And the Fairy Godmother is certainly no exception.

4 films, all first time viewings. Including all 3 Alfred Hitchcock-Grace Kelly collaborations.
Honest.com: the first Hitchcock film I've ever seen. Also, one of the best films I've ever seen!! I absolutely loved it!! Grace Kelly, Thelma Ritter and James Stewart are all absolutely amazing!! I love the mystery of it, the sinister ambience that you get. The music helps set the scene brilliantly and it's so realistic, which is probably the most mind-blowing thing about it. WATCH IT!

3 films, two were first time viewings.
I loved Kate Hudson and Joan Cusack, as well as Abigail Breslin! They were wonderful, but everyone else.. Not so much.. They were nice, but nothing special. I think the story is so cute, it's really moving, the way a family can love each other. Not the best film I've seen but not one of the worst..

Just one film, another first time viewing.
The acting is the best thing about this film, the script is beautiful but the performances really bring it to life!! Helen Hunt is genuinely breathtaking and won an Oscar for her role, so did Jack Nicholson! :) Greg Kinnear was also a beautiful performance. You should definitely watch it!! Definitely.

One of my favourites.
I absolutely adore this! Amazing cast, catchy songs, great story, what more do you want?!?
If y'all aint seen it, you aint lived! ![]() The cast were nominated for a Screen Actors Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, but lost to the cast of No Country For Old Men. (BOO!) So, this stellar, SAG nominated cast includes: Christopher Walken, John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, (Sex God) James Marsden, Amanda Bynes, Brittany Snow, (Sex God) Zac Efron, Allison Janney, (Sex God)Elijah Kelley and Nicki Blonsky as Tracy Turnblad. A favourite and a first time viewing.
I absolutely fucking loved it! Without a doubt one of the best movie musicals I've ever seen, and what an amazing cast! Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere, John C. Reilly, Queen Latifah, Christine Baranski, Lucy Liu...
![]() ![]() I couldn't help but notice that Catherine was so much better at dancing than Renée was... Bobbayyyyy's rating:
Without a doubt, the funniest film I have ever seen!! It's absolutely wonderful!! So dirty.. Seth MacFarlane is a complete genius. Mila Kunis is brilliant, also, Mark Wahlberg's accent is adorable.. and funny. Just everything about it is funny! And can I just say, these "9/11 jokes" that everyone is condemning it for? They are not offensive, they don't for one instant say that 9/11 was funny or that it was a good thing and if you've seen it you'll know what I mean. Plus, to make everything even better, we see Mark Wahlberg's arse!! Yum.

Just one film.
Not seen this film in a long time, which is a shame. It's really quite good. Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman and Sacha Baron Cohen are brilliant, as is Helena Bonham Carter although she's not the best singer.. And I'm gonna say it: Jamie Campbell Bower is UGLY!! People need to understand this. Anyway, it's creepy and haunting and the songs give you chills and shizzle.. Watch it if you've got the stomach!!

2 of my absolute favourite films.
My absolute favourite Disney movie, possibly my favourite anything movie EVER. I absolutely fucking adore it! It's so good! I've grown up with it. Since it was released 5 years before my birth I've always had it on VHS and although I've unforgivably forgotten about it in recent years, it's suddenly crept back into my life, and I couldn't be happier. I love the story, the songs, the characters, the everything! I'll stop now before I break my computer...

Fuck me! Wow this is fantastic. I bloody loved it, loved it. The story, the acting (which unfortunately passed under the radar a bit) from an amazing cast, consisting of: Keira Knightley, James McAvoy (who made me want to do dirty things to him in this, the little hottie), Saoirse Ronan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juno Temple, Romola Garai, Vanessa Redgrave, etc. And I loved the sets, the locations were breathtaking!
![]() In short a fantastic film that I can't recommend enough! FLAWLESS. Bobbayyyyy's rating:

2 films, both first time viewings.
HOTHOTHOTHOT!!! I loved it, Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis have some of the best chemistry I've ever seen!! Beautiful people. Absolutely beautiful.. Also, I adored Woody Harrelson!! Hilarious hilarious man, plays gay well. The script is fantastic, well-balanced and hearty and the performances are so true-to-life!
![]() Bobbayyyyy's rating:
Hmm, it's decent, Ashton Kutcher is a sex God, Jake Johnson is hilarious and I love Natalie Portman.. but this is probably the worst performance I've seen her in, I felt like she just wanted to have fun to get over Black Swan, but nonetheless she's still good! I enjoyed the film, but when it comes down to these inevitable comparisons, it's not as realistic, sexy or heartfelt as Friends With Benefits...

2 films, one first time viewing.
Jodie Foster kicks all the ass! Definitely one of the best actresses around. Peter Sarsgaard is also fantastic! It's thrilling from start to finish, lots of plot twists and dramatic moments. I think above all though, it's about a mother's love and how far she will go for her child.

One film, another first time viewing.
Underwhelming. Didn't really get it.. Also, how was Juliette Binoche (who won a well-deserved Oscar for this film) only a supporting role? She was in like, 70% of the film!! Kristin Scott Thomas was much less of a leading actress than her.. But both and Ralph Fiennes gave brilliant performances! I liked the script, could've had a bit more impact but what can you do? Oh! I also liked Naveen Andrews even though I detest him in Lost.
