The goal is to give 30 new to me games a significant try in the year 2017. I've got way more than 30 unplayed games in my steam library, so this should not be too hard.

Newest games on top.

Current consoles I have available: PC, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Nintendo DS

Current State: Unfinished
Under 1 hour so far

Thoughts: Just finished the tutorial, then decided to go to bed. A little clunky, UI could be a tad smoother, but I was pleased with the results. Will have to continue playing with it! Love how it looks.

Overall: Unsure, need to play more

Thoughts: I was intrigued when I saw this game in my discovery queue. A visually quirky text-based dungeon crawler, very different. So far I have not made it far in- a big weakness I seem to have is wanting to try every dialogue option, even knowing it will end with my dying pretty horribly! But the game is fun so far. Not really scary, but I enjoy the aesthetic a lot.

Thoughts: Gorgeous. I am thrilled that another game of this style was made. I had so much fun in this one. Actually, I had quite the rollercoaster of emotions while playing Abzu. The ocean is a little scary to me, and there were lots of places where this game truly does give you thatfeeling you are hovering above a bottomless pit. I was taken by childlike curiosity and my heart raced during a few thrilling parts. I laughed and even cried, I was filled with wonder. I had a great time. I haven't gotten to really relax and let myself fall into a beautiful, heartfelt escapist world in a long time, and Abzu was just what I needed.

Thoughts: I'm playing this game 2 players 1 controller with my partner, with them picking the dialogue options and me doing the movement. It has been an amazing experience so far. The atmosphere has really grabbed us: this is one of the most wonderful spooky experiences I've had with a game in years. They balance a chill humor with truly eerie environments and events, an intriguing mystery, fascinating hints and clues, and a beautiful explorable setting that is all so well put together I'm just amazed this game exists at all. I can't wait to finish it.

Current State: Finished 1 playthrouh
About 3.8 hours

Thoughts: Amusing, charming, funny. A very very easy game to play, even if you only have a few minutes. I enjoyed the simple game mechanics and I was impressed at how much of a game the devs got out of this one, including some interesting narrative. I don't know if I'm going to attempt a 100%, at least for now. I got a little burnt out because I really marathoned the last part of it in an attempt to finish it up. But it's definitely worth playing, and pretty cheap on steam even when it's not on sale.

Overall: Recommended
