Ok, we had Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Run DMC, Public Enemy, The Pixies, The Stone Roses, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Prince, Madonna, Rick James, B-52's, Billy Idol, The Clash, Police, The Specials, The Undertones, The Replacements, Echo & the Bunnymen, Siouxsie & the Banshees, U2, INXS, De La Soul, Soul II Soul, Salt'N'Pepa, Queen Latifah, Neneh Cherry, The Smiths ...
So what? Just the fact that creepy synthesizers, Menudo, and Stock, Aitken & Waterman have existed already justify this list.

Stock, Aitken & Waterman, this is what's wrong with him. Anyway, his voice is good.

They are guilty as charged for setting back music creativity for many years, but you can't deny that intangible 80s quality (or lack thereof) the songs of that era evoke.

What about 90s or today.... every decade has good AND bad music.
Posted: 3 years, 2 months ago at Aug 11 1:52
I agree.. but in the 80's the bad taste rules...
Although the 2010's are reaching the same level, or even worse, at least here in Brazil.

Some of these bands, like J Geils and Chicago, had vital, vibrant music in the 70s, but turned bland in the 80s.

The 80s ruined the world with 5 things:
AIDS (still here today),
crack (still here too),
yuppies and neo-liberalism and individualism (definitely still here),
shoulder pads (thank God no more here),
creepy electronic synthesizers and a lot of bad music (bad music still here, there and everywhere).
It was the worst decade in History.

wow if the 80's are the worst decade for you i'm sure your not a fan of music because in my mine the worst decade it's the 2000-2009 and the decade of 1990-1999 was not great also. the 80's was the golden age of metal and punk and in that decade it was the beginning of hip hop with the Beastie Boys and Run Dmc ,the beginning of trash metal with Metallica and Slayer, the beginning of supergroup's like U2,Bryan Adams,Pat Benatar,Red Hot Chilli Peppers,Joan Jett,Def Leppard,Loverboy,Ozzy Osbourne,Motley Crue,Phil Collins,Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sade, Inxs,Faith no more,Jane's Addiction,Asia, Honeymoon suite,Tragically Hip ,Blue Rodeo and also Peter Gabriel,Alan Parson Project, Toto ,The Police,Van Halen and Judas Priest who had their best years in the 80's even if they were groups of the 70's. YOU REALLY DON'T LIKE MUSIC

Damn, why can't votes be undone? I clicked the button by accident when trying to warp to the comments section with the button next to it. I strongly disagree with this list as I happen to think the 80s was the best decade for music. This includes all of Rush's material from that era, going from Permanent Waves (1980) all the way up to Presto (1989). Are you really telling me all of that is bad?

I agree with the last two. I huge fan of 80's!:) Guns n' Roses we're my favorite. Sad you feel that way but your opinion!:P

There were a few bands that continued to rock in the 80's, but the whole Techno-Pop thing seemed to dominate the airwaves and MTV. It appeared the guitar was replaced by the Synthesizer. With the exception of the Pop/Hair Metal bands like Judas Priest and Def Leppard, it didn't fully come back until the 90s, when Grunge brought everthing back to the basic guitar-rock again. There were a couple of notible exceptions like Stevie Ray Vaughn, as darkwarrior mentioned, and ZZ Top, but even they added Synth to their sound for the MTV generation. They have since gone back to their Boogie/Blues roots and returned to the stripped-down guitar boogie they were first known for.

I agree the 1980's was an awful decade in terms of music. Don't get me wrong there was some great music in the 1980's but overall it was drowned out by the crap.
I also kinda agree with your assessment of 1980's in general. One of the worst decade era of the 20th Century!

Sorry, I havet to disagree with this list. But, as I grew up in the 80's, this is my own personal opinion. It's all subjective anyway.

I grew up in the 80's too (I was born in 1972). But compared with other decades (except the 2010s), I think the bad music of the time surpassed the best of what was done in the decade. In the description of the list I quote some of the great musicians of the 80s, many of whom are less remembered that some freaks from the list.
Taste is taste, each has his own, but I frankly do not feel the slightest nostalgia for the music of my teen years.

80's : Best Decade of Music !
Posted: 2 years, 3 months ago at Jun 15 21:55
Worst Decade Of Music? Well if you ask me, the 2000s are far more worst than the 80s ever were. The portion of good artists nowadays is much smaller than it was in the 80s.

No, it's not the worst decade of music, but I will say 2 things:

1. The worst of the "worst" in my opinion is Samantha Fox. Her songs are nothing but wanting someone to get in her pants.

2. You put the Sin City movie on this list by mistake.
