The 100 Greatest Cartoon Characters of all Time

Add header image

My choices, at least, for the greatest of all time should I say. Many of these characters would appear on most lists of this type and many would not. You may notice the absence of a multitude of the more modern 'toon characters but that's my choice; the majority of them and the shows that they appear on truly do not impress me. I'll leave them to a younger generation and stick with the classics that I've known and loved for decades.

Maybe this list will bring back some fond memories for some as it has for me. I had fun compiling it.

A very good list. There are certainly a lot of my favorites on here. I liked the big monster with the nasty fingernails that an animated Peter Lorre unleashed on Bugs Bunny.

Another favorite was Pa Rug of The Hillbilly Bears. My friend swears he heard some curse words during his mumbling sequences.

I also loved the utterly improbable adventures of The Herculoids.

I agree with your list for the most part and agree with what you said about today's cartoon characters. Maybe the only one of today I can relate to is Courage the Cowardly Dog. Something about that show strikes home with me.

No space for Masha and The Bear???

A good list overall, but Mickey Mouse at 23? He's possibly the most recognizable fictional character on the planet, with only Superman as competition. I would think that would deserve a higher rating for Mickey. Superman, maybe not, since he is primarily a comic book character who moved to cartoons.

How can an iconic character like Casper The Friendly Ghost not make the Top 100?
