About: Lanky, charismatic and versatile actor with an amazing grin that put everyone at ease, James Coburn studied acting at UCLA, and then moved to New York to study under noted acting coach Stella Adler. After being noticed in several stage productions, Coburn appeared in a handful of minor westerns before being cast as the knife-throwing, quick-shooting Britt in the John Sturges mega-hit The Magnificent Seven (1960). Sturges remembered Coburn's talents when he cast his next major film project, The G ... (more)

James Coburn Biography

James Coburn was an actor whose style allowed him to comfortably embrace drama, action, and comedy roles, and many of his best-known performances found him blending elements of all these styles in roles that overflowed with charisma and a natural charm. Actors who would play me in a story of my life. (10 person items)

"Career-path: General Era: Early-forties Identical traits: Integrity, inspires confidence, reluctant leader, reliable. Who knows, if a war broke out and I couldn't even dodge conscription with my shopping receipt of qualifications, I might be called up to the front lines to lead her majesty's finest into battle. If so, Coburn would have to return from the dead and do a sterling job at portraying my faultless, multiple-medal earning war-time career. "

Filmographies I want to watch (9 person items)

"When he's employed in a serious role, I don't ever recall an actor coming off as competent and cool as Coburn. I'm pretty sure he was the same age for his entire life as well. I'd love to see more of what he's made of on the big screen. Filmography: ~78 Films I've seen: 10 Want to watch in particular: The Great Escape The Magnificent Seven Midway "
