Lists of women, surely getting a bit silly?

They were OK at first, but surely now we're getting a bit too silly?! Girls with hats, girls with dogs, girls with motorbikes. I don't think I've seen a good list about films, TV, Music or books on the front page in ages. The entire front page atm is taken up with women posing in various manners. I hope this is only a phase. I'm going to try to get some more film etc lists out to combat this surge, I urge you to do so to. I mean where to we stop? Girls with feet ? Girls with toes ? Girls with toe nails ? Girls with ankles ? Girls with heels ?

I think if I remember correctly a list will make it to the front page when it hits 2, 7, 12 & 17 votes so look for lists with a single vote, 6, 11 & 16 votes & if you deem them worthy hit that vote button & promote them to the front page. :-)

Just because some kind of lists isn't interesting for you, it doesn't mean it's not for other people. You just don't need to vote for it. And if the big problem is the promotion to the front page, increase the number of votes for the promotion. 2 really is a low number for a promotion. Make it 5 or whatever.

But I guess that was already some kind of talk around here about "useless" lists and it's been said that people are free to make it. I just don't think it's fair you coming in the groups and saying it. I don't think it's going to increase anyone's creativity to make some "smarter" lists or whatever (: But I really think it would be better to increase the number of votes. 2 people interested in some list/review most of the times isn't what is interesting to more and more people.

I've noticed it's mostly the Brazilian gang of members that are doing the making and voting of these vapid lists. I'm not against members making lists of attractive actors/actresses/whomever, but it ought to be kept to a minimum, IMO. If you like a picture, then vote for it. Don't make a list of actresses - and then actors - with photos of them wearing sunglasses (or hats, or whatever), knowing full well all of your buddies will blindly vote for it (hence the promotion). EDIT: Oh, and before I'm attacked for pointing out the obvious, it's merely an observation. It is what it is! ;)

Notice I made a list about angel eyes - actors with nice eyes. The list was a hit, got lots of votes, and looks great. But if I made a dozen other lists about nice noses, hunky biceps, big tits, long hair, short hair, no hair, mustaches, goatees, eyebrows and fingernails all in the same week, everyone would be a bit hostile to me. (well, maybe not with a big tits list) So its real simple. If you flood the boards with too many similar lists, you may alienate people and get less votes in the end. Sure, your buddies will throw u a few votes, but your list will never grow past 4 or 5 votes. If you want to push into the 20+ realm, then please don't flood the site with a dozen lists each week. And to everyone else - its real simple - if it annoys you, then dont vote for it. If it really annoys you, then make better lists yourself or vote up other good lists.

Why are people making lists of things unless they want a note of that specific thing? A list isn't a piece of art! Its just a load of items that fit a category chosen by the author. Like has been said a few times in this thread, if you don't like a list, move along, don't cast a vote, and don't look at it again. Simple. I also think it's unfair to single out our Brazilian friends. After all it wasn't so long back there was a glut of sexy women lists based on FHM UK top 100, FHM US top 100, Maxim top 100, Bollywood top 100, The over 40's top 100 etc etc a lot with images of girl after girl in various bikini poses. After a bit they all look the same. For me these themed celebrity lists are a lot more creative than simply copying a list from another source & there's no doubt many of the images in them are interesting & have some artistic merit. Not forgetting that many of these celebrity lists are social, they're collaborative efforts with users searching out images for others to include on their lists. End of the day listal is a social site, our Brazilian friends are using it's features to create content, socialise online and having a lot of fun in the process. Though I suppose because it is a social network you'll get the odd miserable sod decrying someone's efforts and yes I know I've been guilty of that in the past but hey I'm only human so please allow me my moment of hypocrisy. ;-)

There has been a dramatic decline in the quality of this site of late and lists like that do nothing to stop the decline. Whats the point in a votes system if 10 people collaborate on a list that is cloned from another list, then all vote for the list themselves, before starting a new one over again.

Films shot near my house is hardly a "generic over used shit idea for a list" like referenced above either! I also don't cry out for votes for the lists, and both of them are something to do with me and my surroundings. They are set to semi private, not public, and again they are not the same list repeated over and over with a different title voted for by the same 10 alts!

Just where exactly is the problem? I also don't see any of these celebrity list-makers coming on the forums and asking folks to vote up their stuff, they're quite happy doing what they do within their own community grouping & it was others outside of their immediate circle who've made an issue of their activity. If you don't like seeing those types of list on the front page, vote up those lists you do like or better still if you think there's a decline in quality make some lists of your own to address whatever imbalance you perceive there to be. Easy innit. :-)

The most recently voted/made lists to appear on the front page are going to be these generic "celebrities dressed like..." lists. There are so many of them now that there is a list of "celebrities dressed like... lists" and every single one of them has been voted for by the same 8-9 people. Its not as simple as "voting for other lists" or writing something better. If I made a list now and it went public, firstly it would not make the page because it would probably get gazumped by another "celebrities dressed like celebrities who dress like..." list and secondly I don't rely on sending a list around 10 people and waiting for them to vote. Of course people are drawn to users they follow on their live feed so they might be voting for them because of that, but whats the point of these lists they are making? The concept has been flogged to death.

At least for me, I always go and look ALL the updated from ALL the people I follow and vote for whatever that I like. But I don't go in the "global feed", so, usually, what I vote for is whatever if on my following feed or in the first page. We're not showing each other, but, by a listal tool that is REALLY useful, we just know about the other. And, yeah, besides all the fun we have looking trough thousand of pictures in the website (hey, we also get to know cool pictures and vote for them!), we use this images later, in graphic designs or something like that. We make it public because we KNOW someone else can be interested in the list. It's not because I've got no interesting for Prelude's Big Tits list that I'm going to say "hey, stop it" Escafeld had another good point: a lot of people create lists that are already created, they only need to take it off a magazine, a website or whatever and put it on Listal. We're having much more work doing our lists - and a lot of fun. It's our time that we're wasting, not yours. You don't need to see the lists. I AGREE there's been a lot of these lists at the front page, but, really, I don't think this is a problem of the lists, but from the low amount of votes it takes go to up there.

I think the problem isn't with the lists, it's with the fact that they have all been published at the same time.

But my pet peeves (and NOT rules, just my personal rant) is there are way too many of them - seems like half a dozen are being made daily dealing with actors/actresses with [insert object name here]. And my comment was specific to your 'Actors and chairs' list. I mean, ok, the Got Milk is good, even the Coke or Kiss or Shoes or whatever are unique. But chairs? They're actors! They ALL have actor's chairs. It just screamed 'laziness' and 'running out of ideas', hence why I commented. And yes, it is lazy, as the exact same drew barrymore picture appears in the Shoes list, as well as the chair list. Anyways, everyone has a right to make a list of whatever they want, but others also have a right to bitch about or comment about it or praise it or steal its idea.
