The whole 10 yards. I really enjoued the whole 9 yards but I wasn't feeling it in the whole 10 yards. I mean it was alright, just not as good as the first one.

SW Ep. 2 was pretty bad,
Spy Kids 2 was terrible,
The Sandlot 2 was a piece of crap,
Inspector Gadget 2 sucked something fierce,
Garfield: a Tale of two Kitties was terrible, unfortunately,

That's all for now, I suppose.

oh man, Jeremy. Same here. Whole 10 Yards was a disgrace and embarrassment to everyone that make Whole 9 Yards so much fun.

and here is a good collection of movies that are tagged with 'Sequels that make you say WTF'
http://www.listal.com/search/movies/1/?tag=sequel%20that%20makes%20you%20say%20wtf

and i'd have to agree with that search result, the Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions are number 1 and number 2 worst sequels ever made. they actually made me feel pure ANGER towards everyone involved, that's how bad they were.

I agree Thilian most Disney sequels are horrible, especially: The Little Mermaid 2 and 3, and The Lion King sequel. All The shreck movies were very good.

I don't understand Disney can produce such great films then ruin it by adding sequels that are garbage, anymore I only buy the originals, never think twice about the garbage sequels...

HSM2
I thought the sequel was miles and away better. But that's just me loving Zac Efron singing (and dancing). He didn't sing enough in the first one :P (He didn't sing at all!)
http://www.listal.com/video/3568422

As far as bad sequels though I tend to avoid them in general. But I have the displeasure of watching ALL the Shrek films. i don't know about you Jeremy Smiley but I thought the second and third ones kinda sucked. It just wasn't as fun as the first was.

Oh and I really really hated the Pocahontas sequel, I'm talking 'bout the Disney version of course. I just couldn't understand why she would end up not with John Smith. And then I read some history books and saw A New World and realized that yeah, John Smith was just not for her.

chibi, the fact that they actually made a second ticks me off to no end.

WP (Wolf-Paw), Home alone 4 was practically a meager attempt to make more money. It was filled with all new actors, and Kevin's parents just happened to split up, and his dad happened to be dating a rich lady, which of course caused, or attempted to cause, some fun "traps", all of which were substandard to the first 2.

Home Alone 4

DoK nailed it. It was just a reimagining of the first film and it didn't make sense. Kevin knew who Marv was even though he was younger than he was in the first film. It was riddled with plotholes and unfunny moments.

HSM2

The first one was shit so I'm not going to be bowled over be the second.

Spider-man 3

It ruined Venom. The Best Spider-man Villain was made into a nuissance. Franchise ruined.

There are many, many horror series sequels that are so bad they make you angry after watching them.

For instance:

Halloween 3 - Nothing to do with Michael Meyers, at all, and it had that super annoying theme music about Silver Shamrock! - one of my lowest rated movies

Jaws 2, 3, 4, 12, 47- C'mon, now the shark's kin is hunting Sheriff B's family? Were the writers even trying?

Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street - debate away at which ones are "good"

Superman 3, 4 - Sigh. Can we go back in time and erase those from history?

Blade 3 - Was pretty bad, but I liked Hannibal's name tag.

Off the top of my head...
Jeepers Creepers 2
High School Musical 2 (I liked the music in the first one, so I gave this one some hope...but it failed miserably)
ALL the Harry Potter movies SUCK in comparison to the books
Love's Unending Journey, 3rd in a series (of movies, I promise :D)

I'm sure to think of some more later on... XD

Yes! for the Ew List:
Lion King 1 1/2
Mulan 2
Little Mermaid 2
Beauty and the Beast: Christmas Extravaganza or something like that, so silly *shakes head*
the Aladdin sequels
Cinderella 2 ...fun music, but a weird, hard-to-keep-track-of storyline...
Cinderella 3's music degraded the movie so much...but all in all, a captivating tale ^_^

I wish someone would come up with a positive thread, though...

To be fair to Halloween 3, the Halloween series wasn't meant to be all about Michael Myers. It was just susposed to be a series of horror movies that was released on halloween. I felt that Halloween 666 and the new one by Rob Zombie was much worse than the third one.

Worst? Tough. There are some pretty bad sequels though:

Austin Powers in Goldmember (I love the other two);
2 Fast 2 Furious (the original at least had the charisma of Vin Diesel);
Home Alone 3 & 4 (yukkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk);
The Lost World & Jurassic Park 3;
The Exorcist 2, 3 & 4;
Jaws 2, 3 & 4;
Mortal Kombat 2 (the first one was just as bad, but this is a sequel thread);
Alien vs Predator Requiem (the comment above goes for this one too);
RoboCop 3 (the original is great, the second is okay, the third is just bad);
Die Another Day (wrong, just wrong. No doubt the worst Bond so far);
most endless horror sequels including Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Hellraiser, Leprechaun, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc;

not to mention the "direct to video" sequels;

yet, the winner is:
Batman & Robin (Bat Credit Card?? It would be funny if weren't so sad, Batman and his villains are such great characters).

Jurassic Park 2 and 3
Mortal Kombat 2
You get what you pay for with the horror flicks, they are cheesy.
I also disagree with High School Musical 2, i liked it.

Bad sequels though, Aladdin 2 and 3! X-men 3 i agree on too.

The sequels to "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Caddyshack" were the ones that had my imagination working hardest thinking of appropriate punishments for the perps. In the latter, Dan Ackroyd reprises the original Bill Murray groundskeeper role and affects the most annoying voice in the history of talkies - Fran Drescher trying to sing like Bob Dylan while running a chainsaw would be preferable.

It's hard to get worked up about sequels to movies that were crap in the first place, which covers just about any series that hits number 2. What you really need to fear is the fevered, coke-addled minds of the MBAs running the studios getting even more desperately stupid than they already are and coming up with:

Paris, Texas: The Spring Break Years
Citizen Kane II: Rosebud Fights Back
Catch 23: Yossarian's Big Score
White Christmas: The Easter Extravaganza
Blade Runner: The Early Years

Here are some my choices for great movies that were followed by the most useless, not to mention worst sequels ever.

5. Saturday Night Fever / Staying Alive - Okay, at least some effort was put into trying not only to repeat the success of the original, but also an updated version to fit into the new decade at the time the sequel was embarked. However, just as the 80's were quickly to become an exercise into excessive superficiality, so too did Staying Alive quickly abandon the gritty realism of Fever & go into a testosterone Stallonesque dream-seeking fairy tale of Flashdanciveness.
These days, I use my torn t-shirts to wash the car. And I don't even know what the hell ever became of my sweatband & leg-warmers.
Damn.

4. The Whole Nine Yards / The Whole Ten Yards- Seriously. Did anyone involved in the second "effort" even try?
Damn.

3. Ghostbusters / Ghostbusters 2- A perfect example of a movie that was so self-contained in it's moment of glory, that you know that the only thing that inspired it's sequel was the ringing sound of the ol' ka-ching-arolla.
Damn.

2. Dumb & Dumber / Dumb & Dumberer - One of the funniest movies in the history of cinema followed up by one of the biggest voids of humor in the history of comedy. I'd rather sit thru an entire career's worth of Dane Cook's stand-up routine than ever again have to sit thru this torturous pile of doodoo balls.
Damn.

1. The Sting / The Sting 2 - To this day, I still think that this is a hoax. A movie follow-up without the Redford/ Newman team? Even with a great story ( which this movie substantially lacks) would've bombed without that duo. Hell, that's logic enough not to make this movie in the first place. But, not only was it made, look at who they did actually cast in the lead roles: Jackie Gleason & Mac Davis.
Yep.
You heard right.
Simply,
a "WTF?!" moment in it's most purest form.
Double damn.

Bambie II - Sucked like Hell.
Cinderella II & III - Why did they even make this shit?
Crocidile Dundee 1&2 - Just plain stupid. Cheesy lines, worst plots ever and totally untalented actors.
Lady & the Tramp II - ...
Jurassic Park 2&3 - Totally ruined the whole Jurassic Park series.
Bad Boys II - Can't believe they actually made a sequel as bad as this.
Scream 1&2 - Not worth the time spent watching them.
Men in Black 2 - Piece of crap.
The Never Ending Story 1&2 - Stupid. Both of them.

all Disney straight-to-video/dvd sequels are crap, crap, CRAP.

suitable only for children under 6, and even then, if they really want to see Nemo again, you can usually just put on the original movie.

boycott them!

also, X3 sucked, apart from the hilarious named Kitty Pryde, played by Ellen Page. (Supports my analysis that the X-men movies are pretty much queer allegories...)

I agree with The Neverending Story but it should be the first sequel, The Neverending Story II: The Next Chapter (1990). Poor Jonathan Brandis must have killed himself because of this movie! Actually the lowest rated movie on IMDb right now is a sequel, Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (2004).

I generally cut sequels some slack since I'm usually convinced they're going to suck from the get-go. But some of the worst ones, in my opinion, are:

Batman and Robin, definitely. To a lesser extent, Batman Forever. Just because Batman and Robin was so bad it makes Batman Forever almost look good.

Most Disney sequels are bad. The ones that hurt my brain the most: Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True, Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Enchanted Christmas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2, and An Extremely Goofy Movie.

Don Bluth's films are, like, required to have the most god awful sequels, it seems. All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 really really irritates me because its wrecks everything good about the first one (and by extension the series and the Christmas movie also bastardize my childhood). Same goes for the 100000 Land Before Time sequels. And don't even get me started on the Secret of NiMH 2...

The Brave Little Toaster sequels. Just...wow...

Horror sequels I'm generally OK with. There's two major reasons I watch horrors: 1 - for good, scary, thought-provoking, or fun films or 2 - cheesy, silly, ridiculous, and stupid movies. I love a good bad horror.

There's probably a lot more too, but these are the ones that immediately jump to mind.

I think for the "worst sequel" you have to choose a first one with the highest rating to get the greatest divergence possible. Would be in my case Starship Troopers. The first one is 10/10, the sequel is an insult. But I havn't seen the sequel to 2001, that would certainly suite the downfall of a perfect rating to an insult.

And for me the greatest divergence possible would be between Caddyshack (1980) and Caddyshack II (1988).
