Prelude VIP Moderator Rank : 2	Posted : 7 months, 3 weeks ago at Jan 16 17:36 - Let's make this thread for all Search improvements we'd like to see: 1. better search logic so similar or slightly misspelled items don't get missed 2. similar to how we get results of actors or directors when searching in movies, it would be nice also include any custom lists. example, if someone searches for 'The Sims', before all results are shown, it would be nice to show any custom lists with the words 'The Sims' in its title. That may eventually become a favorite way for people to search items in the database. Say they search for 'James Bond', they could then find all 'james bond' lists and add LOTS of items at once, even if they have vastly different names.

For number 1, I'd love to see quoting taken advantage of with searching. 1) It'd be great to get results on ALL platforms of items. While I understand that currently Listal can't handle two different kinds of possessions within an inch of each other (without explosion, of course), it'd just be convenient and were it default you might still get good results if you accidentally don't specify which platform. 2) Sort results by release date, the alphabet, 'relevance', rating, ascending, descending, list price, etc.

As well as so that a search for Johnny Depp shows also Johnny Depp (actor), and not only Johnny Depp (director) as is now. Ideally these two would be merged but until that happens. Also: 2) Sort results by release date, the alphabet, 'relevance', rating, ascending, descending, list price, etc.

A minor concern but it'd be lovely to see a movie on Listal if you only have the imdb number without having to add it to your list. Listal's search function is so backward that the only way to view a movies page or something, especially if it's foreign, I'd first have to find the number on imdb first.

Sometimes you can't find films titled 'The [whatever]' without putting the word The in. I know I've added music albums to the database that turned out to already be there because of poor search engine functionality. I'm sure other people have too which adds to the problem of duplicates. I'd like a tab at the side of the screen for DVD's, Music etc so that if you search for, example 'Sunshine', then it comes up with the movie Sunshine and on the right is a tab with DVD, and Music results. I've heard Tom say that'd take too long to do, but Amazon does it and it manages it in no time at all.

Wolf-Paw Rank : 101	Posted : 4 months, 4 weeks ago at Apr 10 22:27 - Yep, I noticed the Music Artists, Authors, Actors, Directors and R1 and R2 DVDs but the misspelled suggestion isn't in play yet... I'd like that one, It's kind of annoying to mispell something and have to wait for the page to reload to re enter the search term I wanted. I also noticed a few other new perks which are nice and greatly appreciated(mainly help with searching)
