Here is the official website, with music and clips etc. A new tralier was just released, showing new clips from the movie. The movie will be released this Friday in the USA, some other countries like Australia.. we'll have to wait until the end of January.

When I first heard about the musical an autistic kid had put the CD into a player and after about ten seconds (in which time the theater seemed to be gathering their things, with no music or any way for me to judge) he asked me 'What do you think?' I'll give him a star rating to the thousandths when I see the whole movie.

I love his singing voice... The whole theme of the movie looks very dark, and you can really tell even from the opening credits that it's Tim Burton's 'style'.. dark, mysterious, bright red blood. Everyone that I have spoke to about this has said that the film has a LOT of blood and gore. But I mean, Sweeney Todd is a murderer, the whole theme is cannibalism, it's hard not to.

I'm wondering if this is based off the Dreadfuls or if the Dreadfuls were based off a true story. I'll admit I didn't catch on early enough with this movie to witness what inspired the director. And Johnny Depp is singing in this one? I'd imagine his voice has a good amount of bass.

I even listen to some of the songs on my iPod ^_^ And I thought Australia had it bad, some people still have to wait until the end of February! =O Still, lucky people in USA and Canada get it tomorrow ='( Chibiyusa - that's just what it says on imdb, I guess those two places will get it earlier than the rest of Japan, who will get it on the 19th of January?? Oh and yeah, meat pies, that is Mrs Lovett's (Helena Bonham Carter) idea of disposing of the bodies of Sweeney's victims... using them in meat pies. Pretty gruesome.. the opening credits show some of that, even the credits are very bloody.

What thick blood! It's very clear this item belongs in Prelude's Food Porn list. It's just as deserving, if not more deserving than Super Size Me. Soundtracks and scores get released prior to a movie's public opening, so maybe the world will imagine the aesthetics before they're on the big screen. Unless there are other scenes on YouTube?
Claudia Rank : 125	Posted : 2 years ago at Dec 19 20:41 - Hmm, I don't come across too many males that admire Johnny Depp as an actor, probably jealous of his looks =P According to Amazon, the Sweeney Todd Soundtrack was released on the 18th of December.. and yes, there's loads of clips from the movie on youtube.. various songs and lots of behind the scenes footage. Even on the official website they have released heaps of movie clips and you can listen to some of the songs from the soundtrack. All here.

A lot of people (including Gene Wilder) were pissed that he took on the role of Willy Wonka but he nailed it outta the park. pretty much all roles he does he puts 150% into it and 'becomes' the character, not just an actor. Very few guys in Hollywood can do that.

Let's get some flaming in this thread! :P I never saw a book as anything more than an author's account with anything and everything for you to take from it. It's not that you conform yourself to the author's use of language, his brand of symbolism, or his choice to use verbs or not. You see a role and you make it your own.

I think they've made it clear enough that this is a musical and 70% of it is singing.. so why would anyone bother seeing it if they can't stand musicals??

Not that that would be one of the main aspects of it, the whole film is really about revenge, singing, and I guess you could call it a horror movie? Anyway.. I still can't wait to see it for myself. It's weird, I've been waiting for so long that it seems impossible for me not to like it. =)

I'd love to know if it's every other month or something that the points are tallied. Which country did you see this thing at, yusa? I could've sworn you changed your location. But it's no wonder Dreadfuls got a hard time back then. I don't know whether any sort of quality was put into them, but meat pies are apparently controversial when adults make up the meat. Children and other things don't qualify for controversy for whatever reason, though there are religious extremists against Halloween and the concept of witches (who make that creative stew). Puritans are amusing.

I like Johnny Depp, but I don't think he should've had the part... imo. He was good at Edward Scissorhands, and I don't believe playing a part that would remind everyone of that would be good. He's a good singer, though - and the morose-ness and macabre of the story was perfect for him. :D

I normally hate musicals too, but no way would I put off seeing Johnny Depp singing because I don't like stuff like High School Musical or Hairspray. This is waaayy different, it's not some cute little musical where everyone is happy and singing.. this is a horror musical about murder and cannibalism.

I think the steriotype of the musical is all out of whack. Classic Greek drama was actually sung with masks and things, so the Oedipus trilogy is technically comprised of musicals. I don't know about Aristophanes's stuff though. Oh, I gotta read some more of his some time. I actually saw The Producers on tour a while before the movie was made.

You just have to watch the genres you like. I mean Tim Burton's also directed a couple of other musicals. He doesn't really seem like the "happy singing" musical type of person. @_@ Lion King was okay. I watched the Disney movies and all but I didn't quite get what was going on in the musical. Well, I enjoyed High School Musical and Hairspray ( Kyaa! Zac Efron :D ) Though I can't stand Rent. I HATE RENT. I'm not quite sure why but aghsdofjsdoij I just can't stand that musical.

Sondheim, the guy who created the Sweeney Todd musical did some other things you can probably check out. Then again if the Tim Burton aesthetic is your thing then you can see what else he did although I'm not sure if all of them are musicals. I mean you had to at least see The Nightmare Before Christmas, right?

The recent remake (which I thought kinda sucked) and the one directed by Mel Brooks (which I thought was awesome). The only other shows I've seen outside the occasional high school/college production were Miss Saigon, Les Mis (which I actually saw on Broadway ZOMG), Cats, Rent, The Phantom of the Opera, and The Lion King. Unless you count Disney on Ice. I was fascinated by that as a younger child for some apparent reason...

There was one that lasted two whole days called The Count of Monte Cristo which was written by Alexandre Dumas himself. Actually that was a play, but it went for two days and attendants spent the night at the theater!

Nice trio :) And I really liked Corpse Bride.. it was.. different. I really liked that. What I meant by 'with the same theme' was another musical about killing people and using them as meat in pies. Anything you can come up with for that?

Does that count? Jack and the Beanstalk might have a version or two. Apparently Sondheim did a musical which was a mash-up of a bunch of fairy tales including Jack and the Beanstalk. There might be eating and killing people there. I'll go look around for any musicals about killing people and putting the subsequent bodies in meat pies. There has to be another one.

Now I've been doing plenty of things since I ordered, and for one thing I had a tune in my head when I entered the house and brought the box in. But after opening all nine boxes, with thirty-something packs in each, with 3-5 bones plus stickers and things, I'd been wiped clean. The f-cking was like an animal no longer.

Bloody brilliant! I'm still caught up the whole hype of the movie, I loved it even more than I thought I would. It was dark, mysterious, humorous and bloody. Anyone who is reading this, I'm telling you.. go see it now!. 5 stars. 10/10. 100% amazing.

I love Johnny Depp so much but he really let me down in pirates 3....I dont think I can handle another dissapointment.
