Despite the controversy surrounding his personal life he was & will be remembered as a musical genius & one of the if not THE contemporary cultural icon of the modern era. His legacy will live on his music. Personally I like some of his stuuf, mainly Off The Wall & Thriller, not too keen on on his later stuff BUT notwithstanding my personal preferences you have to accept the talent, charisma & sheer showmanship of the man. To say he was talented is an understatement. A few words on the allegations that blighted Jackson's personal life. If I was the parent of a child that had allegedly been abused by someone there is no way I would accept a multi-million dollar out of court settlement. I would want justice & to see the perpetrator in prison. The settlements say more about the accusers than the accused. Michael Jackson despite his success & wealth was a vunerabale individual. He had a difficult childhood, he was abused physically & mentally by his father & indeed it could be argued he had NO childhood. He was thrust into the commercial world of music production from a very very early age. He was world famous at the age of five for chrissake! Clearly this has had quite a significant effect on his mental health that carried over into his adult life. I think Miachael Jackson was manipulated by lots of people throughout his life for their own ends & the only way he could escape was to use the wealth he accumulated to escape into a fantasy life where he could try & be the person HE wanted to be. His life was one of stark contarsts. Vast almost unimaginable wealth counterposed with deep personal sadness & loneliness. Now he's passed away at last he'll he'll find some peace.

Not only did I get visits from truancy officers when I was bunking off school so often to play and watch Moonwalker, but me and my neighbours practised his dance routines for hours on end and even performed concerts to invisible audiences. I'm not ashamed to admit it! MJ didn't spawn shitty pop boy bands. He is labelled the king of pop because he is the best of the bunch. He had an immediately distinguishable voice, awesome songs and inspirational dance moves. He was a complete showman. Boy bands have tried to emulate him with choreographed dances, but Jackson's talent wasn't forced, it was innate. That's why nobody will shed a tear when Britney or JT dies. On the contrary I think his music was inspiring and puts most modern pop to shame. No offence Cy Cy, but you're only 14. That means you were born during his decline, and his music was well out of the public eye by the time you'd have been old enough to appreciate it. I don't see how you could be as traumatically upset as you're making out.

Everyone feels the need to try and display the most upset image of themselves possible, trying to be philosophical about why a man who was pushing himself to hard to perform to the expectation of his fans that he died, (assuming the reports in the news are right) is dead. In response to Chani - if the family who first accused him had decided to go to court and were facing MJ being found guilty and them receiving a nominal fee, say 1 million compensation maximum and him spend his life in prison disgraced VS 18-20 million and they have to keep their mouths shut they might of chosen cash over their principles, everyone has a price, and it would answer why they got 18 million and not far less... Again I don't really care wether he was/wasn't a pedophile, I am not going to hang him out to dry like Prelude and just presume the worst of people. But I am also not going to blindly believe he is innocent, call anyone who suggests otherwise a dick, like Gemlil, and bury my head in the sand pretending it never came up. He might of been a pedophile and the only reason we don't know either way is because cash was given to make the whole mess go away. I am willing to believe the 2nd court case only happened because the 2nd family believed they could get an easy pay off after the way the 1st accusation went, but the original child and the original situation is the one in question in my mind and the one we will never likely know about.

I can't understand why people find it hard to accept that the family would have kept quiet about their child being molested because they were given 18-20 million dollars. Obviously they would have said something along the lines of "we'll give you 10 million to stop your accusation and to never mention it again" and then they would of just demanded more until they reached a satisfactory amount. If it had gone to court they likely would have gotten very little in comparison to the money they got, and he would of only got maybe a decade in prison etc? They get more out of it by taking the millions than him going to prison. Thats what I make out of it anyway, if he was 100% innocent and all the tests they could do would have shown it then he would have just let them do the tests and stuck two fingers up at the family for trying to fraud him. No one pays out that much money for a lie!!

I have heard news that LaToya Jackson thinks that her brother was murdered and she knows who has done it. Do you believe that may be true? For the past 20 years, we've only seen and heard the bad stuff about him, and he hasn't done much on the music end. Not to mention he could have done so much more and had so much more respect if he never became a white woman. If he stayed black with blotches, he could have represented the people who were already like that and set up a medical charity for them. So for all I care, good riddance. Billy Mays was way cooler than Micheal Jackson.

His voice was really great and so was many of his albums and singles. He was a child prodigy and became the king of pop. His songs carry meaningful words of peace and love. It is really different without him; so different. I remember myself being excited to attend his concert in July.
