The Adventure of Link's emphasis on side-scrolling and RPG-style elements, however, was a significant departure from its predecessor (The Legend of Zelda) and has given it a reputation as the "black sheep" of the Zelda series. Despite being the least popular entry in the series (both in popularity and in sales), the game was highly successful and introduced many elements that would become commonplace in future Zelda games. "I know it's the black sheep but it did for me what I could only dream of. I love platforming games, (Mario, Donkey Kong, and Mega Man to name a few) but I also love Zelda. The last but not least thing I look for in a game is a challenge. Well that is all in this little bundle. You get the exploration of Zelda with the hidden heart/magic containers, going through towns getting magic, and the Zelda theme with the music that I loved. "The infamous I AM ERROR joke comes from this totally wierd style zelda game.
It introduced town's people interaction which has stuck in future games ever since. The game also included spells for the first time kinda.
I loved the new battle system and RPG element of leveling up. This is where the awesome INFAMOUS UPTHRUST AND DOWNTHRUST comes from.
The coolest thing was turning into a fairy! ahahahahah I've always wanted to do that!"
