German developer Egosoft was founded in 1988 and is based in Würselen, Germany. They began with several titles for the Amiga, and Imperium Romanum for the PC in 1996, but they scored a big hit with 'X: Beyond the Frontier' in 1999, a space combat / empire building / trading game.
