I know a lot of the fans don't really care for this Mario game (possibly due to the fact that it's an RPG), but I thought that it was a nice, different edition to both the Mario and RPG genre.
Fun little adventure where you have to team up with 2 other characters to save some star pieces. Colorful, neat graphics for the SNES, and I'll admit that I was pretty excited when I beat t... read more

This game starts off like almost every other Mario game, with Bowser kidnapping Princess Toadstool. However, when Mario goes to Bowser's Keep to save her, a giant sword made by the evil Smithy crashes into the castle, and sends Mario, the Princess, and Bowser flying to separate parts of the world.
The game plays much like a traditional RPG: Mario and the members of his party gain experience points by defeating enemies. These experience points can increase the team's hit points and flower points (magic points). The battles are also turn-based, but this time there are timed attacks and defenses. Timed attacks allow you to inflict more harm than normal to an enemy. Timed defenses, on the other hand, allow an enemy to inflict less harm than normal. " The time limit is real
In games where Mario has a time limit to complete a level, it's actually the time left before Bowser (or whoever the foe is in the game) nukes/gasses the whole level. Think about this. "I was surprised by not only how much fun this game actually was, but by how great of an RPG this game actually is. This is a very fun game to play though that introduces you to some cool characters that are only seen on this game. The funny story also makes this game one of my Favorite RPG's, and gives the Mario genre a breath of fresh air. I think this is the best mario RPG ever made. "
