I must admit, I was not interested in this game when it first came out. I thought, "why would you just want to play as a regular trooper?" well I was stupid and I want to be a stormtrooper. This game is amazing. Everything about it just makes you want to play for hours on end. The gameplay, class types, everything is just top notch.

Description:It's probably not a complete coincidence that Star Wars: Battlefront comes out on exactly the same day as the original trilogy (or at least what's left of it after the Special Editions) DVD box set. The fact that Battlefront sounds like a lot like Battlefield (as in 1942, Vietnam etc) is also probably not entirely down to chance, since this is essentially a Star Wars-ified version of EA's online classic.
As such the game features first or third person shoot-'em-up gameplay over 15 different environments from both the classic trilogy and the not-so classic trilogy. Unfortunately you can't mix and match the different eras, so each of the two sets of opposing factions have to stick to their own levels.
Although the game has a much stronger single player mode than its PC based inspiration, the heart of the game is still the multiplayer mode that allows for up to 16 players online playing as more than 20 different soldier types, which sadly doesn't include Ewoks or Gungans (although the former are at least in the Endor levels as non-player characters). There are more than 30 different authentic Star Wars weapons to use (although not, as far as is known, lightsabers) and 30 different vehicles to pilot, including Scout Walkers, X-wings and speeder bikes.
Despite its obvious steals from the Battlefield series Star Wars: Battlefront is shaping up to be a more than worthy title on its own, with excellent graphics, plenty of variety and, most important of all, the chance to essentially "play" Star Wars, except with virtual characters instead of action figures.--David Jenkins

Graphically the game just shows the power of the Ps2. Nowadays it isn't that great but back then, it was amazing. There is a storyline somewhat related to the movies, but no one really cares about that. What makes this game is the multiplayer and the galactic conquest. There are four teams but only two play at a time. You can either do Republic vs CIS or the Empire Vs Rebellion. Personally I love the Empire both for just being a Stormtrooper and also ” read more
"I still prefer the first Battlefront over the second. The Cloud City maps, Tatooine and Naboo maps, the ability to crawl on the ground, and the fact that you can't play as a Jedi make this one slightly better than the second."

"19 - Favorite game based on a book/comic/movie/anime etc
Dang it feels good to be a Stormtrooper. I'm weak I know, I have to pick a game based on a book, comic, or anime and I default to one of the most popular movies of all time. I'm pathetic."

"First game I played in the series:
I heard this game was coming out, watched the trailer, and said it was the dumbest idea ever and would flop. Then the pre-orders said you could have a scout trooper action figure with the game... I still resisted "knowing" the game was going to suck. Oh how wrong I was. I played this game at a friend's house (seriously?!?) and was hooked in less than 60 seconds. I can't believe I ever doubted this game. Who would want to play as a dumb stormtrooper anyway? U"

"04: Most rememberable Character
Stormtroopers - Ok so I'm stretching a bit since they are memorable because of Star Wars movies too, but seriously, when this game came out it was so awesome to finally be the feared army of the Empire.

If I went by how many hours went into a game, it would be the first Battlefront on my Ps2. It was revolutionary and the fact they took the ability to crawl on the ground out of the second one makes the first Battlefront superior."

"2004
I wasn't sure if I was going to like Battlefront, and I was right... I freakin' LOVE this game! Everything about it was just so on I can't count the hours I lost. The only thing lacking was 4-player splitscreen so it didn't quite replace Timesplitters 2 in college but it was still really fun. Conquering the galaxy took hours when playing against another human but just made the satisfaction of winning that much sweeter.

"Day 29 - A game you thought you wouldn’t like, but ended up loving
Here's my train of thought when Battlefront was announced: "Yaaay a new Star Wars game! What? You play as an average regular soldier? And that's cool? Sounds kinda lame... can't I be a Jedi like Jedi Knight/Outcast? No? Yeah that will probably bomb." Geez was I wrong, being a stormtrooper is awesome! Being a dark trooper with a jet-pack and a shotgun is even cooler."

"This is why my friend's play video games. Star Wars Battlefront was a dumb idea when I heard about it. You're an average soldier on the battlefield? Who wants to be a stormtrooper anyway? Oh wait, I do! Everything about this game is awesome. Trooper classes, vehicles, awesome movie-like maps. If you like Star Wars, you'll love this game."

"It's tough which Battlefront goes first, but first was first so it goes first. Battlefront was such a simple and basic idea it's amazing they didn't come up with it earlier. Let us play as an average trooper on a battlefield? Heck yes, dang it feels good to be a stormtrooper."
