In late 2000, the barely-hyped Skies of Arcadia hit store shelves and blew the very anticipated Grandia II out of the water. While Grandia II was a fantastic game in its own right, Skies of Arcadia was high above it, sailing around the skies in their Air Pirate ship. It seemingly came out of nowhere and quickly became one of the most beloved RPGs of all-time. To this day, fans of the game still cl... read more

As soon as I first began to sail the skies in Skies of Arcadia, I fell in love with this game. This is an RPG that encourages and rewards exploration in such a way that I was driven to ensure that every millimeter of the world map was explored to find all discoveries, hidden bosses, recruitable characters, etc. When you're not exploring the game is still tremendous with memorable characters, fun ship battles, bea"

"I went so far out of my way to acquire this game. There must be something wrong with me to try so hard to get something and then choose not to enjoy it. Yeah, I'm crazy."
"Wow its a dreamcast game. Skies of Arcadia almost made buying a dreamcast worth it, if you dont have one get the remake for Gamecube. Its characters were very appealing which isn't exactly common for a jrpg and was visually stunning."

“In late 2000, the barely-hyped Skies of Arcadia hit store shelves and blew the very anticipated Grandia II out of the water. However, is this game really as good as everyone believes? Indeed it is, friends. Indeed it is.
Lets get right to the combat. The combat in Skies of Arcadia is your standard turn-based fare with little tweaks and modifications to make it a system all its own. There is a bar at the top of the screen that shows you how many spirit points you have” read more

Grendel, the Green Gigas
Grendel, the Green Gigas is a boss so large, that you had to fight him via an airship...And even the airship looked like a small insect in comparison. This was the first ship battle in the game where I actually had to go in with a strategy...'Cause if you didn't, Grendel would swat you down in a hurry. I liked the fact that I had to use my brain to beat this colossal creature and that simply all-out-attacking it would lead me to a quick death."

"From what I remember, Sega didn't really hype Skies of Arcadia much prior to the game's release. Dreamcast owners were waiting for Grandia II to come out to satisfy their RPG cravings...And then skies of Arcadia released and made most folks forget about Grandia II. Exploring the skies, recruiting new characters, and making discoveries made the game fun...But the story helped make the game that much better. In my opinion, this is the best RPG of this decade."
