After briefly scanning the other reviews for this game thus far, I realized I simply had to review it, if nothing more than to provide a better insight into why this game is timeless. Yes, timeless. I know there are some out there who care first and foremost about graphics. And if that’s you, then stop reading. Seriously, you won’t enjoy this game, ... read more
This is so great and fun to play. This is what a really good game is about - it doesn't matter if the graphics are badly dated, it work, you get the idea, and the story is hilarious. Once you get the idea, it's really easy to play, and though it doesn't offer that much of challenge, it's enjoyable to discover what the storyline and the surroundings have to tell you. The sequals are a different sto... read more

"The Secret of Monkey Island" is an adventure game that utilizes the command verb-based SCUMM interface first introduced in Maniac Mansion. It is the first LucasArts' adventure game in which it is impossible to get irrevocably stuck or to die. The branching dialogue system allows you to talk to characters in different ways without fearing a wrong choice. Seriously, you won’t enjoy this game, and it’s simply because the graphics are not cutting edge, graphics card accelerated masterpieces of technology. For you, there are plenty of other games out there. And don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against such graphics. I just happen to appreciate great games, regardless of what level of graphics they have. And besides, I like the graphics of this game. In fact, for me, it’s a part of the ” read more

This game is a true classic, and an experience you simply must explore if you enjoy adventure games in the least bit. There is truly nothing quite like it out there today, with the witty humor, bizarre puzzles, and vintage graphics. I remember spending hours in this world, exchanging witty comebacks with pirates during duels, concocting a weird recipe to magically transport my ship to Monkey Island, and trying to rescue Governor Marley from the evil Pirate LeChuck.
