The game includes 13 maps from Stalingrad to Ukrainian steppes to the last days of Berlin. The map sizes vary so that some maps only have a few tanks while others can have up to ten. The game includes 13 maps from Stalingrad to Ukrainian steppes to the last days of Berlin. The map sizes vary so that some maps only have a few tanks while others can have up to ten. Equipment and character classes also differ depending on era. Each side has set character classes, so most players need to be content with playing a normal soldier.
Red Orchestra has been designed to be as real as possible. There are no aiming markers, the players have to use the iron sights. There are also no markers to identify friend from foe, the only way to tell is to look at their uniforms. There are also no ammo meters. The realism goes so far that the player actually has to pull out the empty cartridge after firing a bolt-action rifle! Even suppressive fire is useful as bullets going near make shooting more difficult.
