My favourite Atari game

Pitfall, along with Joust, was my favourite Atari 2600 game. While Joust was the start of 'action' platform game, Pitfall was the start 'adventure' platform game - it introduces many levels, obstacles, and various traps and enemies. For 1982, this was very revolutionary. There were no enemies to conquer (only to avoid) and points were gained by collection various gold bars scattered throughout t... read more

Atari 2600 Games Reviews (7 games items)

" 8/10 Stars I was introduced to this game through Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. There's a level in Murderworld where your chosen character gets sucked in an arcade machine. He/she has to go through 15 levels in order to free Jean Gray from mind control. I must say, the controls in that mini-game were abysmal, horrendous. Not a very good first impression. Years later, I saw a trailer for this game that featured a teenage Jack Black. That, and G4TV's enthusiastic review, sparked my interest and I de"

Favorite Games - A Year by Year Review (120 games items)

"This game is a true classic of Atari, though I'm not sure it could hold the interest of the newer generations. It has had a few sequels, and I'm not sure how popular they were. I found this game enjoyable, if frustrating at times. I always seemed to fall down the pits at the worst times. Still, it is one of the classics of the system. "

"Atari 2600 - 1982 "The working title was Jungle Runner, and it came dangerously close to going to market with that name. The second choice was Zulu Gold. Without Cheech and Chong as spokespeople, I don't think that name would have worked." --David Crane, creator of Pitfall!"
